GoGo's Cancel Summer Farwell Tour!!!!

June 9, 2010 (LOS ANGELES, CA) – It is with great regret that the Go-Go’s announce today the cancelation of Happily Ever After, their summer farewell tour. The tour was scheduled to kick off July 7 at Lilith Fair San Diego, and conclude in Austin, TX on July 27. The band will also be unable to perform live on Good Morning America, scheduled for July 16 in New York’s Central Park.

The news comes as a result of guitarist Jane Wiedlin injuring herself after a 20-foot fall while hiking near her home in Northern California a couple of weeks ago. Jane is scheduled for ACL replacement surgery for her knee in the coming weeks, with a prognosis of up to a year recovery time.

The band is heartbroken and hopes their fans will send best wishes for Jane’s speedy recovery. In the meantime, tickets can be refunded at point of purchase.

She adds in an interview with ABC, "In some way, the drink and drugs is easier because it's abstinence, but with food, you got to eat every day, and I had a terrible relationship with food. If I did eat something wrong, I would be on the treadmill for hours and hours. And if I did have a bite of that cookie, then I would beat myself up and eat as many as I could and count the calories as I went along."

Thats funny because IMHO, her musical legacy will live on much longer than Madonnas. Now, all around media foot print, Madge got it made...My whole point is, Carlisle should have stepped back and realized her own place in history and not worry about one aspect of it...one that is so superficial to begin with. Actually, that's a hard task for all of us...all is understood I guess.

Belinda as a member of The Go-Go's & Belinda as a solo artist are two different situations.

With The GoGo's, their only rivals were Klymaxx, The Bangles, & Vixen.

As a solo artist, Belinda had her work cut out for her in the 1980's within the same era as Madonna. And if you count Janet, Paula Abdul, Jody Watley, Whitney Houston, Pebbles, and even (don't laugh!!!....) Deborah Gibson & Tiffany in the mix, I can understand where Belinda is coming from. The poor woman must have wonder very hard on how could she stand out in that pop culture crowd.

I'm talking about Belinda's legacy period though. Yes I understand where her insecurities came from yet it's sad she wasn't confident enough in her musical legacy as a Go-Go to say, F it. I'm already legendary. Madge cant touch that. Cha know?

I love the Go-gos, but Belinda's solo music does nothing for me. The Go-gos did pop/rock/punk influenced music. Belinda's solo music was so middle of the road, uncreative and boring. As a solo artist, she made a mistake in changing too much away from the style and edge of the Go-gos.

Yeah I mean I liked Belinda and all but her solo records all sounded the same... she wasn't all that and she definitely doesn't rival Madonna, Janet or Whitney... I'd place her in the same category as Kim Wilde
