"Gnarls Barkley is not who I am", says singer Cee-Lo Green, sitting in a Burbank, California, studio. "And right now I'm in this space of wine, and women and having fun."

Cee-Lo's Lady Killer charts the singer's romantic adventures since his 2005 divorce. "For much of my career, I was married," he says. "Now I'm single and ready to mingle."

The singer's aims for a mainstream neosoul mood, layering Cee-Lo's scuffed-up gospel vocals over bright, 80s-inspired funk grooves; one track has a bouncy Hall & Oates vibe, and another, "Language of Love", channels Peter Gabriel's So.

The record features production from Salaam Remi and Jack Splash, who has worked with Alicia Keys and T-Pain. "This is not crazy psychedelic s*#&t, says Splash. "It's Cee-Lo's beautiful voice singing songs that people are gonna be covering 40 years from now."

Cee-Lo is still picking from the 60 or so tunes he wrote for the album. "My people weren't rushing me," he says.

This year won't be so leisurely: In addition to the solo album, he's also in the early stages of a Gnarls record and a reunion set with this Atlanta hip-hop crew, Goodie Mob. "I want to do all of these different things and do them well", he says. "They're all neighbors, it's just gated communities, you know what I'm saying?"

I'm interested Frankly with a voice like his, he can practically sing anything he wants. I just hope he doesn't follow all the current commercial trends.

I've always admired Cee-Lo for his work with Goodie Mob, Gnarls Barkley and even the first solo project he did (with "Closet Freak") so I'm anxious to buy this.

I like it! I think "i want you" is a stronger song... That thing is TIGHT. Can't wait for the new album!
