Meli'sa Morgan - "Do You Still Love Me"

It's odd to me that her popularity never really took off. She charted less than 10 songs, and Do You Still Love Me is one of my favorites from her. Of course, the other single from this album gets more attention, but this one's lovely. love

Thats my least fave song from the album. As much as her voice could carry a ballad till the bitter end, I think her original material leaves me cold, she could do a remake justice though thats for damn sure. With that said, this is my fave ballad from the same album...

Of course, along with the title song lol

As for her popularity, I think Whitney Houston was enough for those record labels. I mean you had the VOCAL BEASTS like Angela Winbush and Stephanie Mills(who can still "rip anybody to shreds" vocally mind you) yet record labels wouldn't touch them, even though they made some hits.

I love this womans voice love

its a shame her catalogue is so limited, I could listen to her sing all day

Genobia Jeter's "all my love" has her all up in the background music perfection from begining to end.

Is that Glenn Jones wife? hmmm I remember they had a duet, can't remember which song, its in one of his albums from the 80s.

I think the producer did BOTH of their debut album(Genobia and Mel'isa I mean) if I'm not mistaken, Meli'sa sang back up for Genobia's debut also.

yes Genobia is Glenn's wife she has done a couple of duets on his early albums & Lesette Wilson produced Meli'sa Morgans 1st 2 albums for capital as well as Genobia's 1st secular album

Speaking of the Meli'sa/Genobia connection, Meli'sa wrote this song....

You can clearly hear Meli'sa's prints from the chorus harmonies, its right up her alley.

"Do Me Baby" is simply an exceptional album from beginning to end!!!

The reason why Meli'sa's career never took off outside of black radio is because she did not have a Clive Davis or Tommy Matolla backing her. Therefore, unfortunately, her music was only relegated to R&B radio. So many black female singers of the 80's sufferred that same fate.

"Now I don't wanna complain but something just 'aint the same with the way you hold me ... I wanna know ... Do you still love me?"

I loved this song as a mid teenager when it came out and I'm still in love with it now. And yes Meli'sa I still love you and your voice. lol

She has a song in Cool Millions' new album...

The album features Eugene Wilde, Leroy Burgess and Peggi Blu among other "80s boogie" artists.

^^^^ I have been meaning to pick that album up, have you listened to it? Here is a recent interview Meli'sa did for the recent promo for that album. Quite a good interview that covers her career from beginning to now. www.soulmusic.com/fecomimo20in.html [Edited 5/31/10 3:05am] [Edited 5/31/10 3:05am]

Meli'sa ruled 1986. nod

She had like three hits that year: "Do You Still Love Me", "Do Me Baby" and "Fool's Paradise".

Meli'sa has been often copied and/or sampled by others over the years.

"Heart Breaking Decisions" was sampled by Mary J. a few years back.
