Anyone remember this artist? I had never heard of her before. But I just borrowed a boatload of old records (some mine, some that my mom had bought in the 60's, 70's, and 80's), and bought a new turntable. She has this record, among a few other Melanie records, and I'm fascinated by this artist. I love her voice, I love the folky sound she does, I just love everything I've heard by her. She reminds me of a female James Taylor, and I am a huge JT fan. Right now, spinning the above record at top volume. They don't make music like this anymore.  | |

Yeah, the song about the brand-new pair of rollerskates was HUGE when I was a kid.
That song - especially with her voice - was so drenched in sexual innuendo. | |
