I didn't say it did. I'm strictly talking about ANY actor losing/gaining weight for a role. It's not a new or odd phenomenon and it doesn't put their health at risk if they are in good shape to begin with.

I didn't even read the whole thread so I wasn't directing that comment at you, de niro just came to mind.

I just think de niro & christian bale were already serious actors when they did that. call me cynical, but this smacks of a guy who wants people to think he's a serious actor.

How does one become a serious actor? By doing the work and Fiddy is going through that process now. Deniro and Bale weren't always "serious" actors, they had to start somewhere. Have you seen Bobby D's student films and some of his first roles? Simply atrocious! Especially Bloody Mama with Shelley Winters. And wasn't Bale in Newsies? P-fucking-U! I still can't take him seriously as Batman cuz of that shit.

Regardless, even if it is a ploy, it shows he's dedicated to doing this role. I have no idea if he's a good actor or not, but I do know it's hard to deprive yourself of food for 3 months and run on a treadmill for 3 hours a day on purpose. Hell, most muhhfuckas can't stick to a diet or exercise regimen to lose weight that's actually killing them.

IMO anyone who does this is serious about achieving their goal, whatever that may be. He definitely gets points in my book for this cuz it would be much easier for him to stick to sterotypical, tough guy, rapper turned actor movie roles. And this is a departure from that and a tribute to his friend who died from cancer. So, maybe there's more to him as a person and his acting skills than what we've come expect. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I find it funny that folks are always bitching about rappers being one-dimensional yet when one of them tries to do something that's outside of the box and obviously out of his comfort zone, he still gets shit thrown his way.

exactly... these pics are not new... he just released them yesterday... he said that he already started putting back on weight

Only thing that is making me wonder here is 50 is so much darker then that pic on the left.......but maybe it's makeup.

From what I'm looking at, the pictures of him looking that thin were months ago.

He said he was tired of having to go in extra early andsit there for hours to get covered in makeup.

I'm glad that he put a baseball cap over that alien-like dome of his, maybe it grew like that because of his ego. I don't like 50 cent and nothing would make me go and see that movie, not even if he was death incarnate. "Fiddy's" rapping skills isn't even |"all of that". He's lucky that Dr. Dre put some time into those dope beats that caught the nation's attention on his 1st CD. He may have a good rapping voice...but that's about it. Lyrically he sucks. You know you have to have a big head when you get on national television challenging Oprah because she won't you on HER show. Before I saw this thead, I actually started a thread about the same thing because I was shocked at the weight loss. But he's still a loser. Yeah...I drank my haterade today.
