Andre 3000's "The Love Below" Tribute Thread

One of my FAVE albums from 00s music

I know the latest clip is not from the album, but I thought I might as well throw it along with them for good measure,,,and anyway, If I remember correctly, I read that it was originally an outtake from the album.

I had that album on repeat for a few weeks when I bought it in 2004 - I didn't listen to Speakerboxx nearly as much.
I prefer to listen to this album in its entirety but if I had to pick a favourite track, I'd say "She Lives In My Lap". nod

Is it true that "She Lives In My Lap" is about Erykah?

I'm not much of a rap fan but I bought this album shortly after it was released and I love it. It really seems like Andre was able to channel some prime era Prince on much of this disc. I try to listen to both discs as if it was one album and I gotta say that Speakerbox is pretty good too. I ended up getting all of their albums and for the most part I dig them but with The Love Below it seems like Andre really nailed it.

It's been a few years since I listened to this, I'm gonna have to dust it off and give it a spin.

The first hip hop able I'd bought in a LONG time and the last I'd be buying in a LONG time. All artists get inspired, but some get I.N.S.P.I.R.E.D!! lol And you can see that Andre had definitely been touched during this project.

Yes oh yes...this opus brings back memories in 2004 as I played it the entire album front to back that year. The Love Below is one of those albums that has an indescribable quality to it as it has ambition and timelessness about it that no one but Dre 3000 could put on it. When I first heard Prototype, I almost pissed on myself as it sounded unlike anything on the radio back in 2003 and 04. She Lives In My Lap, Pink & Blue, Love Hater, Vibrate, She's Alive, Dracula's Wedding, Love In War and Spread all knocked me out. Hell even the hit singles Roses and Hey Ya! were catchy. Dre definitely outdid himself with this epic masterwork and I may also add that not that many millennium pop releases have been able to mix artistic creativity with mainstream sensibilities so effortlessly. Just excellent.... music

Yeah me too. I play Aquemini probably once every week on my iPod, but I've been digging Idlewild a lot lately.
