Janet to perform at inaugural American Music Festival in Florida

Janet has been announced to be one of the performers at the inaugural American Music Festival in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal is reporting that Janet will be joining Usher, the Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez at the festival, which will be held at the Bandshell.

The festival will be held in two rounds, one slated for June 25-27, and the other for September 3-5. It has not yet been announced which date each performer is scheduled for. Festival organizers said that information will be finalized within the next few days.

Tickets for the festival are scheduled to go on sale May 29.

UPDATE: The Daytona Beach News-Journal is now reporting that each act will perform a 45-minute set, not a full production.

The Essence festival is huge. They have major headliners and it's not "beneath" a major artist to headline it. The other show has major acts too. It's not like she can't pack arenas anymore and is settling for festivals (and don't even mention the RWU tour because I was at the DC show and that motha was packed). She is not currently promoting an album, and is using these shows as an outlet to perform. Last year Beyonce headlined Essence.

Actually, Essence is wayyyy beneath Janet. I think she's just trying to regain her touring status with these festivals. That's all.

I hope you don't expect her to just sit around until she feels inspired lol Janet isn't even sure what direction she wants to go label-wise. It's a bit below her to do festivals but she needs to re-gain her touring status before hitting the road.
