"This ain't Prince! This ain't PRINCE!" - Schoolly D

In this video, Schoolly D kidnaps a number of white rock musicians, gives them shock treatment, and programs them into loving rap while he laughs at them under his control.

But as a rap label in the 80s, there wasn't many others that could touch it, except Def Jam.

The label's early roster included Tight Fit, A Flock of Seagulls, Billy Ocean and Samantha Fox.

I remember seeing their music on Jive and I thought, naw that must be some weird Arista/Zomba licensing later release thing, but no really they were on that label!

hmmm Ok fine,he doesn't like rock but why did he have to do two songs like this?

I remember an interview he did in Black Beat magazine, where he explained this song.He said that he actually likes some rock music, but disapproves of the way that rock artists "dress like homosexuals",looking all feminine with spandex, long hair and lipstick shrug In this interview,he also expressed his dislike of Prince.

It's like "cool, we get it, you don't like the way rock portrays itself but did you have to further explain?"

Nowadays he probably would LIKE more rock since people in his own genre are defacing hip-hop lol

I wouldn't go that far to say JIVE was a "rap" label since it did have pop artists in the very beginning but it definitely played a major contribution to rap.

1. Billy was Jive Records' biggest star at the time.

2. Those tracks Full Force made for Samantha Fox are dance classics.

With the exception of Afrika, Public Enemy, & Salt-N-Pepa, it seem that no rap artists from the 80's liked Prince. Sad but true.

Big Daddy Kane was one of Prince's harshest critics. But yet, Kane & Marley Marl sample the living hell out of Pop Life for their track For The Lover In You.

It's the case of these rap artists that were (and still are) fans of Prince's music but hated his fashion statements & facial make-up.
