18th of May - R.I.P. Ian Curtis

Today it's been 30 years since his suicide. Ian Curtis was singer of the band Joy Division. More than that, he was such an amazing poet. His lyrics are more like a poetry, full of pain, dark thoughts, despair..and tell me, who hasn't heard JD's album "Unknown Pleasures"? It's a brilliant album.

^^^ That's actually the only JD song that I've never liked, glad it's not on the albums.

A tragic and confusing end, still surprising that he was only 22 or something.

nah, if you watch the biopic movie it's on there [shot in black and white. Must admit that when I saw what happened on the night he killed himself it really freaked me out to think that all of that was going on with just the thickness of a wall to divide us. apparently there were photographers etc round there today.

Even the introduction of Pac-Man wasn't enough sustenance to sustain a path of hope. Where the hell were the power pellets back then? Piece.

Joy Division's music is timeless. "Unknown Pleasures" and "Closer" are both masterpieces. I have never been a big New Order fan in general, although I love some of their stuff. It was Ian Curtis who made Joy Division so compelling and real and exciting.
