I can't lie, when I saw her in 2008 ... she was great!!

She still moved as stiffly but she had dancers with her. Her live singing was good (believe it or not biggrin )

She did a different cover song on the show I saw; I forget what it was now.

How telling. biggrin

Well, forgive me, that was hot off the heels of watching her cover a Sheila E song. wink

Why does it always look like she's got about 3 ft of stage to be on, and all the backdrop is pushed forward? Does she just perform on a ledge?

What's with all the cover tunes? Didn't she just release an album? Does she have this much free time in her show to kill or is her setlist of her own songs just been condensed for biting purposes?

spit On that tour, yes she basically was!

She wasn't the headliner, so the main acts' equipment and gear was set up behind her. It sped up the lag between sets.

I'm saying. Worst percussionist moment ever. What's next fake bass playing without it being on and the audience cheering? Bet she's working on that air guitar as we speak...

She actually did that on American Idol last month. disbelief

But I thought she was actually drumming for real in that concert clip. eek Dang. lol

That's why I can't believe she has the nerve to act like Sheila. If she truly idolized her, she would be embarrassed!

nod You can't pretend to drum and attempt to emulate Shelia E, and you darn sure can't be weak and emulate Grace Jones. lol Besides her Prince-style hair cuts, she's all messed up with her "inspirations," lol.

Yeah - the woman can sing though. She just needs to find the balance between 'being inspired by' and 'making an embarassing attempt to copy'. Finding her own thing is getting urgent...

Da hell you say?
That chick can't sing worth a shit.
How did it come to pass that her lame ass caterwauling could pass for singing?
She is definitely a case of style over substance.
I remember the days when people used to LISTEN to music instead of LOOK AT IT.
Its crazy how she's one of the biggest pop stars yet she can't sing worth a damn, can't dance and DAMN SURE can't play drums. I guess all it takes is a cute face, nice body and a haircut these days.

She's doing little fills, but yeah there is another drummer on stage doing most of it. Here she is practicing for it.

Its gotten outrageous now with these chicks that CAN'T DO ANYTHING. I'm tired of all of these silly, Ke$ha ass broads with 0 talent. Even chicks who weren't great singers back in the day, used to have SOMETHING going for them - stage personality/presence, could dance well - SOMETHING.
Now, music is reduced to a background for visuals. It seems like people don't listen to music anymore. They HEAR music but they don't LISTEN to it. Does anyone actually sit at home and just LISTEN to music instead of having it play in the background? I swear, anti-talent is at an all time high these days.

What's even sadder is that artists who actually can sing are going along with this bullshit. That's what really sickens me. Honestly, I don't care if the music industry wanted to dress chimps up, hand them instruments; and, make an album and videos of them; and sold it to the public. If someone wants to buy that shit than good for them if it makes them happy. If people want to buy music with their eyes, than that's really on them. I'd just never take their musical reviews very seriously. There's plenty of money to go around...it's just not going to be my money. Honestly, I just want to ask some of these 'visual artists' lol this question: "What if you doing a show in front of a room full of blind people? Do you really think they give a shit about what you're wearing or how good your choreography is? Okay, now please keep that in mind before you continue on in the music industry."

I feel totally the same way about her. That´s why nothing she´s ever done has touched me. To me, she´s a robot, doing some robotic music. I don´t feel her, I don´t get her.

I'm sorry that "performance" should have never left the rehearsal space. That is down right embarrassing. In fact, I'm embarrassed for her. If your act is not polished you don't do it. That's performance 101.

Horrible voice and no stage presence! I don't see how anyone could sit through her shows. It would be like watching a Kindergarten recital.

I bet her guitarist Nuno Bettancourt was the catalyst for her doing this song. He's made no secret about his love and admiration for Sheila E. and Prince music. Plus last year Sheila joined Nuno and his band Extreme(remember "More Than Words"?) and jammed on the timbales and vocals doing a cover of "Wanna Be Startin' Something" together.
