I dig Beck as well. Midnite Vultures was amazing even if he did throw in a strong hint of purple music. The song Debra is classic Prince. Sea change is ecactly that. A change. Nice for a relaxing self indulgent moment.

Beck is great.

I also loved 'Midnite Vultures', and recently I heard a new song of his on the radio and really liked it a lot (don't know the name of it. it's a slower one.)

I gotta get 'Sea Change'. I've been hearing a lot ofgood things about it.

Sea Change is a very sophisticated cd. It's also very heartbreaking if you pay attention to the lyrics. I like this cd, but I have to be in a certain mood to put it on and enjoy it. It is definitely NOT pop garbage, it's very mature and requires some time to appreciate it.

I think Beck is a real artist and in the music biz of today you can't say that about too many people and that really is a shame. When people have a successful record they are supposed to make a "pt 2" of it, so all my respect goes to people who don't and are not afraid to make the next step (like Prince releasing "ATWIAD" after "PR" or Terence Trent D'Arby with "Neither Fish Nor Flesh" after "Introducing..")
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Weird! Last night, for no reason, I downloaded a couple songs from Sea Change (I don't know which ones), and I am hooked too...I am going to go buy it this weekend, I believe. Is it just me, or has his voice gotten better with experience? Maybe it's just the melancholy in his voice.

his voice sounds great these days, eye just heard the Morning Becomes Eclectic show that he did back in september, and he played a few numbers off the new album, and he sounded perfect... Its been a while since eye got hooked so quickly to someone's music like this.. It will be interesting what change his music will do after this...

look forward to it

very hard to find:
'stereopathic soul manure' (from 1994)
and
'one foot in the grave'... (i don't see a date on this one...)

both are extremely experimental..some 4 track stuff, some stuff sounds like it was recorded on an old school tape recorder...good to have if you're really a beck fan tho...

i still haven't gotten sea change..but right after odelay came out i scoured ev'ry place to try to find whatever material i could on him..that's how i found these two...

Those two records aren't rare at all. In fact, you can order them from any decent online CD retailer. Also, I'd like to know your definition of "experimental." I haven't heard "Stereopathic...", but "One Foot..." isn't experimental at all. It's a cheaply made (but charming) lo-fi acoustic guitar record. The two Beck records that are REALLY rare are called "A Western Harvest Field By Moonlight" and "Golden Feelings".

This cd is brilliant. But if you're suicidal I don't recommend listening to it! It's depressing...a lot of it is about his breakup with his longtime girlfriend.

Actually he was right about the experimental thing.. Stereopathetic is very experimental sounding..

My brother bought the 'Western Harvest' 10"vinyl. It even included a fingerpainting by Beck.. The music is very experimental, eclectic, weird and unfocused, but there's one or two gems on it.

Sea Change is great. Esp. since I just broke up with someone. Another one of my all time favorite depression records is Tears for Fears - Elemental.
