Most of her hair was weave extensions anyway, it was probably badly damaged and she had to cut it off. It looks good to me. I'm amazed at how much weight she has dropped not her hair, because she was chubby on "Why did I get married 2"! eek

This has got to grow on me.

I'm surprise no one has noticed that.. She really lost a lot of weight...

She can still style it in soo many different ways. I prefer it like this than in the gel-ed back look, but she can curl it and make it look totally different. Short hair is not a death dealer...look what it did for Rihanna.

This looks much better than that gelled back look. Her hair is still thin though and it's not always been that way. I've heard she lost some when she was doing the bonded hair extensions year after year. Everybody who does that ends up with some degree of hair loss and it takes a while to replenish what the bonds took out. She ought to rock this look for a good two years and let her scalp get healthy.

I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

And that's ok. At this point, I'm very muck ok with straightened hair. It seems Black women have been such slaves to weaves and wigs for too long and it is time to give them up for a while. Seeing Janet like this, as well as Tyra, Toni, and a few others who have decided to wear their own hair from time to time is refreshing.

Now, ideally, yes I would love to see more Black women take the "Jill Scott route", in that she has a full understanding of the fact that there is nothing wrong with black hair in it's natural state. So she is comfortable with it enough to wear it like that sometimes. I have seen Jill with braids, straightened hair, extentions, hair pieces added, as well as a afro. Most Black women that I know would not feel comfortable enought to wear straightened one week and curly natural the next week. Black women should be able to work out, or go swimming without fear of their hair going back to it's natural state.

Again, I think the use of the weave has been overplayed for so long, Black women wearing their own hair is a refreshing sight to see. It's ok to NOT have straight hair flowing down your back or to your shoulders. It really is.

I'm the exact opposite. I wear my hair curly/wavy 95% of the time (with a texturizer to loosen that curl up), and straighten it/get it straigtened every once in a while.

That is good to hear, and congrats to you. Not that I don't ever see those who do as you do, however I would love to see more of our sisters do it. I say the same to the white sisters....let the hair dye go for a minute. It's ok to not be blonde. smile

I can see where you're coming from. The reason why so many Black females are losing their hair is because their hair and scalps have been damaged from the chemicals in relaxers, dyes, and weaves. Several years ago, I stopped getting relaxers for this reason and have been natural ever since. People think it's ridiculous, but I'm not going bald, like some of them. It's really sad that Black females are the only group of people that have been brainwashed into believing that their natural hair is bad, so we must go to extremes to change it, even if we go bald in the process. I kind of wish there would be a rebirth of the Black Pride/Afrocentric era. I've had it with society shoving the unrealistic Eurocentric standard of beauty down everyone's throats.

I hate Rihanna´s short "edgy" hairstyles, but Janet looks really, cute, fresh and stylish with it. Love it.

y'all do realize that not all black women wear weaves/wigs or chemically process their hair. Some sistahs just got it naturally long and curly. I bet if Janet only flat ironed her hair and kept it in good condition she would have never had to wear those wigs in the first place.

Beyonce wears a weave? I thought she only wore wigs. confuse Otherwise her hair is long. I've seen her childhood pics and she's always had a mane. Nothing blonde or red mind you...I'm sure when we see her with those colors they are bonafide wigs.
