I love Chaka's cover, Charlie version is rather bland.
Reggie Griffin injected some Epinephrine into a somewhat lifeless song.
Sandra St. Victor and brother Mark on background vocals.

Wow! I knew Charlie wrote this incredibly stupid song but I never knew he recorded it. This is definately the WORST song in Chaka's catalog! I'm not sure what she and Arif were smoking when they decided to cover this non-sense on her otherwise excellent "Destiny" album.

Charlie released one single with his group Stargasm around 1981, before joining Cameo :

And besides Cameo, he contributed around 1982 on the indepependent release below :

Samples can be heard at the ebay link :

Also worth to check are his apearances on Billy Cobham's 1977-album "Simplicity Of Expression, Dept of Tought".
He sings lead on the tracks "Pocket Change" and "Opelousas", and performs guitar on other albumtracks including the moody "Bolinas" :

Charlie released about 4 solo-albums :
- Modern Man - 1985 - Arista
- Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained - 1987 - Epic
- Man On A Mission - 1989 - Epic
- Phantom Of The Hip-Hopera - available here : http://www.hiphopera.biz/

I love Charlie, I have the "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained" album and I really dig it, especially the title track and "I Wanna Be With You".

Trying to track down some of his other material at the moment.
