Not Dark Yet... Shadows are falling and I've been here all day
It's too hot to sleep, and time is running away Feel like my soul has turned into steel I've still got the scars that the sun didn't heal There's not even room enough to be anywhere It's not dark yet, but it's getting there Well my sense of humanity has gone down the drain Behind every beautiful thing there's been some kind of pain She wrote me a letter and she wrote it so kind She put down in writing what was in her mind I just don't see why I should even care It's not dark yet, but it's getting there Well, I've been to London and I've been to gay Paree I've followed the river and I got to the sea I've been down on the bottom of a world full of lies I ain't looking for nothing in anyone's eyes Sometimes my burden seems more than I can bear It's not dark yet, but it's getting there I was born here and I'll die here against my will I know it looks like I'm moving, but I'm standing still Every nerve in my body is so vacant and numb I can't even remember what it was I came here to get away from Don't even hear a murmur of a prayer It's not dark yet, but it's getting there. bob dylan... ... no reason, really... just because... The reason is because Bob is the greatest and always will be. Bob has more talent than most so called artist today have in their baby toe. Bob will be remembered for 100's of years to come. He is a musical genius!!!

It's a matter of opinion Cloudbuster. You should take some time and listen to Bob. He sings with more passion and feeling than anyone I have ever heard. I'm not saying he has a good voice, but the passion that comes from him is undeniable. I have been a fan of Bob's for many years and I know his music quite well. I would recommend Bob to anyone looking for real music by real musicians.

i second this... this is why bob's versions of his own songs always remain the definitive versions... he's been covered by people who can sing rings around him... but when he is singing his words, he emits this emotion that the people covering him will never be able to match... and yes, i would have to say that bob dylan is a musical genious in that he was always ahead of the trends... with "highway 61" and "blonde on blonde," he began using a heavily-blues influenced hard rocking backing for his songs... this was before the blues-rock movement really started to take flight... by the time it did take off, bob dylan started making more acoustic oriented music with very confessional lyrics ("john wesley harding")... everyone thought he was crazy... a few years later, jim croce, james taylor, joni mitchell, etc are all huge... bob dylan has already moved on to something else... his born-again albums came out at a time when it wasn't cool for rock-stars to associate themselves with religion... nowadays, everyone from u2 & moby to dmx & mary j blige are doing it... he is always a few steps ahead...
