The rock band you need to see this summer is...

I saw these guys Saturday night. Holy mother of all that is rock, THEY BLEW THE ROOF OFF THE PLACE.

I must admit, I was never a big Foreigner fan, and even became a hater in the 80's. Even today, I rarely leave a Foreigner song on the radio, and there is NO song of theirs on my iPod.

But live? WOW. Not to sound like Oprah, but WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!

Now, the only original Foreigner left is guitarist Mick Jones, but trust me, he is enough. This cat can play rock guitar like nobody's business. He's got to be one of the most underrated rock guitarists out there, IMHO.

The current singer, Kelly Hansen, sounds very much like Lou Gramm. Having never seen Foreigner with Gramm, I have no idea what Gramm's stage presence was, but he'd have to go a long way to best Hansen's.

They even have a new CD out, called "Can't Slow Down". The title track was KILLER.

So to recap, go see Foreigner. Rock on!

Rooney, and Maroon 5, are both starting tours very soon, and have new albums just weeks away. I wish they were touring together. This is Rooney's first headlining tour. Hanson will be joining them for most of it. Maroon 5 kicks off in my area at the end of July. I'm very excited for both band's albums (not so much for Hanson, although my roommate is all a quiver about it).

I saw Foreigner a couple of years ago and thought they were great. Is Jason Bonham still playing drums for them?

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. TOOL is the band you need to see this summer.

No, I think Bonham was a one-time thing.

I am not a Tool fan but to be fair, I don't know much about their music. I'll check them out.

Yeah, they are definately worth checking out. They are like a "Pink Sabbath" or a "Black Floyd". I go to alot of different types of concerts, Tool has the whole package. They sound amazing and they have the whole visual thing down. It makes for a truely spectactular show. I will see them for the 12th time on July 12(San Francisco) and the 13th time on July 13(Sacramento).

I recommend listening to them more than once, some people do not get them the first time. Try the "Aenema" or "Lateralus" CD's.

P.S. I remember having a whole new respect for Mick Jones after seeing Foreigner. I did not know he could play like that.
