Phyllis Hyman "Goddess Of Love" reissue . . . I know we talked about this album being reissued a while back. I placed my order when it was first announced & have waited ages for it to be delivered. Yesterday the postman finally delivered my copy . . . I have to say this is how a reissue should be handled from the artwork, the liner notes, behind the scenes photos . . . they have done Phyllis proud. I know as far as Phyllis' Arista catalogue goes this is not a fave amongst her fans but I would highly recommend you picking up a copy. the liner notes are so informative detailing the writing process etc (I had no idea Tina Turner's "whats love got to do with it" was offered to Phyllis 1st) the company behind this reissue are "Reel Music" I hope they get their hands on a few more sought after 70's & 80's albums as they have done a sterling job on this album. Life has a way of making you live it. . . .

It's hard to pick a favorite album by Phyllis.I'm leaning towards 'Living All Alone',but then there's 'Can't We Fall In Love Again' to consider too

I know I sound white, but I am so new to her! I will be taking your post into consideration here. Harlepolis told me a long time ago to get familiar.

If you start with her "You Know How To Love Me" album and work your way up, you might do ok. I fell in love with her after hearing "Old Friend". Here are some of my favorite Phyllis songs. I think this was reissued in'08, this album HAS to be in your collection, my favorite. It was reissued a few years ago as a Japan import. This will be the first domestic reissue. I already have the Japan CD but may order this one anyway for the liner notes. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

Phyllis was the real deal! I think she was a better singer, with better songs, than Anita Baker and several other more popular female R&B singers.

I wouldn't say "better." To me, a lot of the popular/famous female singers of the late 70s and 80s all had distinctive sounds. Phyllis, Angela Bofil, Anita Baker, etc. are all excellent singers, just different in their style and approach. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Anita Baker can't touch Ms. Hyman, not in a dream. I'm not sure what's happened but I've reached the point, I can't deal with Ms.Baker's singing. Maybe it's my mother's utter comptempt for that woman's singing has gotten to me.

It has only been in the last year that I could listen to her again. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
