Oh Brother, lol. If I'm anywhere near a radio when that song comes on, I damn nearly break my neck trying to turn that thing down before I gotta hear those tires peel out. Perhaps now it'll make me chuckle, thinking 'bout you and your box of Teddy Grahams down there gettin' revved up, lol.

No brother I think you had me mistaken for someone else. I remembered thinking SOME WANNABE PRODUCER looked like a Teddy Graham but never in the history of me being on this board did I ever say I ate 'em. lol

Ah right! No, it was you - but I got it twisted, lol. Truly, you never said you ate 'em, lol. I just got that image of YOU and Teddy Grahams stuck in my brain because you had me cracking up. Again, my bad: http://prince.org/msg/8/326965

lol I hate to admit it, but I've never heard this song before, lol. Feels a lot like "One Nation Under A Groove" to me though. I like it, it's very funky.

I've always liked The Gap Band. Saw them perform back in 79 when they opened for "somebody", lol. I think it was either The Isley Brothers, Cameo, or Parliament, and I think The Bar-Kays or Kleeer were on the ticket (so many years, so much FUNK, and so many bong-hits ago, lol). Anyway, my point being; I never really collected their albums like I did many of the other artists. I think I may only have one or two of their LP's way back on some dusty shelf somewhere. And then I know I have the 12" of "Outstanding" - I was soooo loving that song when it came out. But The Gap Band's "Disrespect" slipped past my radar, and I'm sure a few other worthy cuts.

So, my mission is clear now: Go back and catch up on the entire Gap Band catalog. I know it's gonna sound just as good to me today as it would have back in the day. Cause if I ain't heard it yet, then it's gonna be new... TO ME!

Just now, taking a quick look back, aside from "Outstanding", this was probably my favorite Gap Band jam:

And ironically, this looks like one of Timmy's uploads. clapping

Be sure to seek out the extended version of "Disrespect" (7:11)..it's a better mix.
