Harlepolis said: I would've enjoyed the video more had it not villainized black men. But then again, if its not misogynistic video against black women, then its an emasculating video against black men. Balance and REALITY is taboo nowadays. You know how many years we have been saying this? I mean right here on this site - you and I both. Its crazy, isn't it? Well, I will say that the song has a nice hook and melody and that ethereal feel stands out compared to a lot of the other material floating around on the R&B charts.

After watching that video again, I'm annoyed as hell by the subliminal stabs the director took.
I could have come up with a much better direction for the video that stayed true to the concept and been cool at the same time. Peep this: Video starts with the two of them walking together happily like a couple. They smile. He walks her to her house. He gets ready to ask her something but her dad calls her into the house. She leaves before he can finish his sentence next scene: They are glancing at each other from a distance, with friends. He goes to speak to her while they stare at each other, but her friend pulls her away. next scene - club. She sees him out with his friends. He gets ready to go over to her but a fight breaks out and security pushes him one way and her the other. next scene: He calls her. They talk but his little brother/sister pulls the cord out of the wall when she is about to say something. there is a pause then she hangs the phone up. next scene: He's leaving his house, goes to the store and buys a card. She's leaving her house and goes to another store and buys a card. A gust of wind blows the card out of her hand and she chases it but loses it. A guy on a bike rides by him as he is walking with his card and bumps into him and knocks it out of his hand into a ditch but he looks and doesn't see it. A kid walks by and finds his card and hers. He takes them to a mailbox and drops them in. A shot of both of them at home on their beds, frustrated that they can't seem to get time for each other. Each one of them goes to the door and they get their cards. Show a split screen shot of both of them opening their cards simultaneously and each envelope has a card with a ring in it. They both storm out of their houses past their "obstacles" (Dad, little brother/sister) and you see them running down the street. They both pass their friends but they ignore them when their friends try to flag them down. They keep running until they see each other. They embrace and hold each other and then they hold up their rings and put them on each others' fingers. End vid. Now if I can think of that in 10 minutes, why can't these idiot video directors come up with something without inserting conflict where there is none. There is no conflict in the song. No political statements need be made and most importantly (to me), no subliminal stabs need be made at black males portraying the "savage negro" role. Fuck these tards.

I LOVE this song! "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee
"Water can nourish me, but water can also carry me. Water has magic laws." - JCVD
