It was 1990 that MJ and Madonna went to the Oscars together. That was the same year, or the year after the Truth or Dare comment. We didn't see the comment until 1991 when the film was released - she made the comment in July 1990 while in Europe. So why was she hating then?


* March 1989 - Madonna makes tit comment about LaToya - 1989 (Issue was March 1989, interview was probably in January-ish).
* July 5th(?) 1990 - Madonna comment on Janet - (Probably between July 3-6 - she was in Paris those days, made the comment at a Paris shop, and had one day off from the tour on July 5th)
* March 25, 1991 - Madonna and MJ at 63rd Academy Awards. It's safe to assume they hung out a before the awards, with the now infamous "movie night" story, and other times as well. Remember Madonna talking about giving MJ a make over for a magazine? He was supposedly "totally into it". She wanted to dress him down with jeans, a nice pull over, etc. He later was in a magazine w/ a varsity sweater on, and jeans. Not too much of a make over as he'd worn a similar thing in the "Thriller" video.
* November 26, 1991 - MJ's Dangerous is released, albeit without Madonna on board.

So does the feud stem further back than January 1989, is the question, and WHY? I can't see JJ dissing Madonna based on what Madonna said about her brother or sister. Seems like it'd have to be a more direct attack by Madonna to spawn that. Besides, why is it a big deal if LaToya did have a tit job? It wasn't exactly a secret by 1989 when the magazine came out, right? Sooooo.....it's either because of the Playboy comment, or it goes further back. I have a feeling it's Madonna who started the whole thing.

The whole thing pains me. Two of my favorite all time performers, and they'll never work together because of whatever. No, they aren't the greatest singers in the world, but they've still written and sung some of the most memorable music we've heard in 50 years (as has other artists, I'm not saying they're the only two to have done that). Frankly I think "Express Yourself" would have been a great duet for them.

Well my favorite rock star diss was from Lou Reed: "I really enjoyed the shows I did in London at the Rainbow Theater. I kept looking down twenty feet into the orchestra pit and thinking 'Frank Zappa fell into that pit.' And I really hate Frank Zappa, and it made so happy thinking about that."


Incidentally, in my world, KISS towers mightily over Carlos Santana. He's a fine musician I guess but it's not the kind of thing I want to listen to for more than 10 minutes in a day. I don't even own any Santana records but KISS Alive I and II get regular play. Hell I'd rather listen to the bootlegs of Paul Stanley's stage banter than a lot of Santana music.

Not to be a naysayer, but I think the MTV references are a courtesy thing. No one is going to bitch fight while paying tribute to one of the greatest entertainers the world has ever seen, esp when he's family.

I don't think the feud will ever be totally over, giving way for them to work together, but I can hold out hope that people can just grow up and do something great for the fans.

Patti is Class personified. I adore her! She's been in the biz for soo long and she knows how to keep herself together and be respectful and professional. That Diva nonsense is waaay to childish mature woman like Ms. LaBelle.

From that video, it's seems apparent that she and Christina got off on the wrong foot when they were beginning production on 'Lady Marmalade' and the record exec rudely began demanding that the powerhouse parts of the song be given to Christina and P!nk objected to it greatly. That may have been what initially soured their relationship forever because they are both strong and opinionated females to begin with and ultimately why P!nk and Christina don't get along now...not to mention the Linda Perry tug 'o' war. Once the bridges have been burned, it's extremely difficult to rebuild them.

I love me some Christina, but it's no secret that she's a diva, but when you've dealt with the things she's dealt with at such a young age, I can't really blame her for putting on that 'bitch armor'...which is the same way I feel about P!nk because she's had a tough life journey also. In an E! special she did a few years ago, Christina's mom was talking about how Christina would enter talent shows and win and would get evil comments and dirty looks from the other contestant's mothers...not the kids; but, the parents, which is really fucked up for a grown-up to say nasty shit about a child in front of them.

There were also several times when her mom had to walk Christina to class because other girls would be waiting to kick her ass before school because they were jealous of her vocal talents. If I grew up around fucked up haters who have malicious intentions towards me, I'd probably be a mega bitch too. For all those artists who have said that Christina was rude to them, there are many who have praised her talents, professionalism, and the passion she has when it comes to her craft.




At the end of the day, if they can 'SANG' that's all that matters to me. Diva bitch attitude or not, just get on that stage and leave your heart on it and I ain't mad at cha. Just my
