- - - The Artist Formerly Known as Prince (about Michael Jackson) Prince was sweatin' MJ big time back then, and it's obvious as sunshine in July. Prince was still making great music for the fans and trying new things, but he was losing Top 40 appeal, little by little. BAD garnered more #1 hits than Thriller, with five singles peaking at #1. (It's the only album to do that.) Prince released SOTT and Lovesexy in the two years that MJ was promoting BAD, and gearing up for a tour in 1989 (I think). BAD sold 30 million records. Neither SOTT or Lovesexy, as great as they are, even came close to that in America, and was sporadic in other countries (although Lovesexy did reach #1 in the UK). Combined, they didn't even clear 6 million in the US. BAD hit #1 in every country except AUS where it hit #2. It actually did better than Thriller in the #1 spot in the international charts. Prince needs to check himself on this one. BAD was chalked full of incredible music, (it's still my favorite MJ album). SOTT was primed for great singles, but Prince lost interest and couldn't stick with it. Lovesexy was a money gulp when it came to the tour. It's not about which album is better over the others, but the public has spoken on that 2 year time period. The only pathetic thing about that time Prince's attitude. So much for finding God. He should have dueted on something else besides "Bad" (although that would have been classic), and just done the duet like everyone (the fans) wanted! He could have used the bucks. It should also be noted that,in 1991,Prince hired Michael's manager Frank Dileo to oversee the promotion and singles of his 'Diamonds And Pearls' album.Prince saw that Michael's albums were having five or more hits, and he wanted the same.

It might not be to your taste but the millions of people around the world that go to the shows seem to like it just fine. Memorable vs. familiar. "Ooops I Did It Again" is familiar, doesn't mean it's memorable. And Santana is right...that 2.5 hours is all flash and glitter. How exactly would you define "memorable?" I think it's a crappy song but for a lot of folks "Forever"is memorable. I think Santana is dead wrong. If it was all about the flash and glitter why would anyone bother buying the albums? Supposedly Kiss have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. Pretty impressive for a group that is "all flash and glitter." I totally get that they may not be to your taste but for their fans, and there are millions of them going back 35 years, they have made plenty of memorable songs. They also have fairly substantial catalog sales which suggests that they are attracting new fans.

Double ouch! Financial trouble? Really? He just got off doing "Batman", which I'm sure he was paid well for, no? Maybe he was spending a lot (he probably still does). I've never heard The Family's take on the song, but I really dislike Prince's take on it. Boring. It's sad that Prince couldn't hear what a great job she did with the track? Yep,'Batman' was a huge financial boost for Prince,so it's obvious that Sinead was exaggerating just a little Sinead's story is really weird, but I wouldn't be surprised if it really happened.Other female artists have spoken about heated arguments that they had with Prince. For example,Apollonia has said that when she decided to leave the Prince camp in 1985,Prince got pissed and told her "You'll never make it without me" And I know that there was a time in the mid-90s when he wasn't even speaking to Sheila E. I'm not defending her,but let's be honest....the biggest "hit" that Prince had in 1990 was Sinead's cover of "Nothing Compares 2 U" His own 'Graffiti Bridge' album and movie didn't do very well.If it weren't for the huge success of "Nothing Compares 2 U",1990 might have been a disastrous year for Prince. As for her comments....she claims that it was Prince who got an attitude with her, telling her things like "You really should wear a dress and stop swearing so much".She claims that he sent his limo driver away, leaving her with no way to get back to the airport."He laughed at the fact that I was crying...saying that my big mouth had gotten me into trouble again". not sure what to believe

They became friends later on when Mary started to clean house. But Chaka is known for letting folks have it to their faces. In her book, she would tell some fellow singers "Bitch, I never did think you could sing" Paula Abdul got a piece of Chaka's mind and Nippy was targeted as well in either Vibes Or Rhythm & Soul back in 1992(about her cover of "I'm Every Woman") - "Can't that bitch find something original to sing for once?"(Which is funny because she later appeared as a cameo in Nippy's video). She became SO mellow nowadays though

"You think this bitch can sing just because she won a bunch of Grammys?" and yes,Chaka criticized Whitney for re-making "I'm Every Woman" "Why can't these ladies find original material of their own? I did!" Ironically, many of Chaka's classic songs are remakes "Hot Butterfly" (originally recorded by Bionic Boogie with Luther Vandross) "I Feel For You" (originally recorded by Prince) "What Cha Gonna Do For Me" (originally recorded by Average White Band)

Elton John Trashes Keith Richards
The Diss: "He's so pathetic, poor thing. It's like a monkey with arthritis, trying to go onstage and look young." After John had changed the lyrics to his '70s hit 'Candle in the Wind' in 1997 to honor the late Princess Diana, Richards criticized his fellow Brit, saying John was "writing songs for dead blondes." In an interview with foreign journalists in Atlanta, John retorted that Richards was holding back the Stones. FRIGGIN' HILARIOUS!!!! It's like Extenze insulting Viagara. http://video.google.com/v...624527780# That feud goes back even further than that 1992/3 interview. In Truth or Dare, the documentary by Madonna about The Blond Ambition Tour of 1990, showed her in a UK shop (possibly Chanel). She came out of the dressing room wearing a long, black jacket, buttoned up to the neck. She said, "It's very 'Obey Everything I Say'." One of her dancers said, "It's very Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation." Madonna retorted, "Bite your tongue."
