It took me years to learn who performed this song. I'd hear it on the radio and each time the damn dj wouldn't mention the artist. One night--after years, crying over a recent break-up and induced by the power of the song and being drunk --parked in a garage--I finally discovered Angela's name. Ain't that the truth. I have two songs I've been obsessing over for 20 and 10 respectively; I've never heard the titles for these songs and I'm hoping one day someone will post them.  | |

I learned of this song first through Will Downing's version. I thought he had done it originally until around '94 when they started to play Angela's version. I was ten so I got an excuse. Before then the only Bofill song I heard was "I'm on Your Side" and that was after hearing Jennifer Holiday's version. | |

You gotta understand, my radio station didn't begin to PLAY Angela until mid-1990s. So this was what I was exposed to. Angela Bofill was NOT well known in my house. Phyllis Hyman, by comparison, WAS. | |
