There was on in the works, with Jesse L. Martain in the title role. But, Motown would not let them use all of Marvin's music. It has since been placed on hold. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

It seems that Motown would not let them use the early Marvin music, so the project was put on hold. incidently, John Legend was supposed to play Smokey... Cameron Crowe's doing a Marvin biopic and he's got permission to use the music from the Motown years. Now he just needs to find the actor to play him. May take a while since he's got other projects. I think Jesse's movie will be put on hold indefinitely.

Does anyone remember that doc that was based on the Marvin tribute album from the early 90's? It was very cool and had videos from artists like Nenah Cherry, Bono, Digable Planets, Madonna etc doing his songs. Also had interviews with Janice and Marvin's kids. Including Nona. I had it on VHS, recorded from TV, and have not been able to locate for many years. I use to watch it all the time. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I know of the documentary you're talking about: Inner City Blues: The Music of Marvin Gaye. It was great to hear Marvin's story and the stories behind his most important songs. This was the beginning of my fandom for Marvin, which had started around '94.

That clip is on Youtube. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Yes this show is my fave of all Marvin docs I've seen. I was I had it on DVD or at least the video files to convert. Maybe someone on here has it or can point us in the right direction. I've looked high and low for it. Great show. Great music as well. I usually don't like tribute albums but this one was really good. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I usually don't like tribute albums but this one was really good. This was done at a time when tributes were done right. When it was about the music and not about the star power. It was also the only time that Madonna sounded good. Her version of "I want you", is my 3rd favorite...Marvin and Robert Palmer being 1st and 2nd. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

You wouldn't be able to see 'em anyway. Several were blocked in "several countries". I'll give you the link to the full video.

Watch the video from the link I gave you. Sorry about deleting them, YouTube apparently thinks the video has to be protected with copyright "blocking" it in "countries". *BOLLOCKS*
