Paul Carrack, yea or nay?

I thought I'd start a thread about Paul Carrack, probably one of the more celebrated journeyman musical acts of the last 40 years or so. He has had hits as a solo artist, with bands such as Squeeze and Mike + The Mechanics, and he has worked with Roxy Music, Nick Lowe, The Eagles, The Pretenders, and the Smiths. So what do you think of him?

Here he is in the band Ace, with his first big hit:

Then he briefly was a member of the band Squeeze, replacing Jools Holland on keyboards, with one of their biggest hits:

In the mid 80's, he joined Mike + The Mechanics, the side project for Mike Rutherford of Genesis. This was their first hit:

Thanks to the success of Mike + The Mechanics, Paul was able to jump start his solo career. He had attempted a number of solo albums in the past but with no success. Then he broke out as a solo artist in 1987.

Then he returned to Mike + The Mechanics to release their biggest single to date:

Major yea.

From his 2003 release...

...It Ain't Over

...Nothing To Lose (Live)

There's another track on that album called Ain't No Love that kills.

In addition to his voice, he's also been an in demand B-3/keyboard player.
(Roxy Music, Pretenders, Nick Lowe, Dream Academy, John Hiatt, Paul Young, Elton John, Eric Clapton, etc)

I like him. I saw him with Squeeze and I saw him open solo for Roger Waters on the Radio KAOS tour. He also played in Waters' band on that tour, The Bleeding Hearts Band. Dude has a great voice.

Ahhh..."Don't Shed a Tear" was my song during the 80s. Love his vocals on the Mike and the Mechanics songs too.
