biggrin I'm diggin this!! Nice choices!

Man, I remember Andre Lewis playing with the Buddy Miles Band, back in the late sixties, was suprised when he turned up in the helmet 10 years later, lol I think he started playing with Frank Zappa after that solo stint...anyway, you're right, the Mandre debut is definitely an underrated funk classic!!!!!

Nice mix, HH!!!!

CavernWow! Crazy to hear the original version of songs that inspired songs you won't mention. omfg

Laundry - I honestly hate rap and I honestly love it lol Can be SO INTERESTING as in how it's used here clapping

Gabe's New Joint - This evokes feelings of being at a Latin Fair.

Lovesick - This is a great track lol I don't know why but I picture a hotter more glammed out Missy Elliot lol

Nipple To the Bottlep Well shit, maybe I was just channeling Grace in that last track lol biggrin Yeah, freak central headbang I had never listened to the lyrics very closely before and I'm cracking up. This woman lol

Bring Your Love Down (Didn't I) Freak to freak biggrin have you ever heard her album Hometime? So not Yaz and is unbelievably fantastic. clapping

Eye Know Wow, this totally changed the landscape of this mix and brought back total nostalgia mushy The 90s were the BEST clapping Wait, is that a Steely Dan Sample I hear? omfg IT IS! biggrin clapping

Funky Music I am going to probably sound ridiculous here but is this Luther Vandross? I pretty much only know his ballads/hits. This reminds me of house music for some reason. I think it's just the big black voice you hear in some of that gospel tinged house. I'm inspired to revisit some of that stuff music

Dirty Love God, your music sense just kills me lol Seriously, you have such a broad sensibility. I don't know why it surprises me but it goes to show how much more exposed Europeans are to the world vs the USA. It's not that I don't know Americans who have such broad musical tates but it seems rare that you connect with that kind of creature outside this music forum. most everyone is a slave to whatever the industry puts out. Anyway, I'm rambling just to say that I love this song lol

Break for Love OMG, then you put THIS on clapping Haven't heard this in AGES. biggrin OK, I do hate that lady in the middle with her mock crying stfu Otherwise I've always loved this song nod

Great job Maestro! clapping may i please have the linkypoo? batting eyes

Thanks! Of course you can!

And I love you loving "Laundry" after saying you honestly hate rap. I love it, when it's done like this, so I often tend to stick to early, old-skool rap. As long as it's honest and is not limited to calling women ho's I tend to at least give it a try.

You caught me on the big break in the mix, being the Eye Know mix. It does change the mood and I would have done that more subtly if I did not already liked this mix so much I decided not to change anything.

I am going to remix this tape, btw, so the songs are in one continuous play. I will send you a link after I am done, but Ian's 80's thread still needs my albums list, so it might be next week... But I might change that break and add some new songs...

Sorry for the late comment! Been crazy busy at work and just exhausted after (I work nights). Totally diggin' your mix! :rockin:

Cavern: Nice to hear where some samples came from. I'm a newbie to Liquid Liquid, boxed but definitely a big fan of Joy Division and can hear the similarities of lack of sound in it. That's one of the major things I love about Joy Division and what I enjoyed here. Had that post-punk, but not sound.

Laundry: Yeah!!!! This one had me goin! Boppin the head and feeling it throughout my body. Great track! Love the bass!

Gabe's New Joint: Sounded like it could be on the soundtrack to a 70's drama - car scene. lol

Lovesick: I need this song! Reminds me of a female Tricky or could be a Massive Attack track.

Nipple to Bottle: Where is my 80's power suit? I am feeling empowered by the beat alone! Her voice is so strong as well as the lyrics. Note to self: Check out more Grace Jones. Last album featured Wendy & Lisa? I def gotta check it! biggrin

Bring Your Love Down (Didn't I): Great transition! I still feel empowered doing the miss thang neck shake. lol Love Yazoo! I don't believe I have this song and must get it! Love that 80's vibe and synths. woot! This got me off my bum to dance just now!

Eye Know (They Know It All Mix): I like how it went from the dance floor vibe to a kick it one. Very chill yet nonetheless funky. De La Soul are always good to create the not so harsh sounds. Paints a breeze in my mind.

Funky Music (Is a Part of Me): Luther Vandross? Serious? WOW! Like Supa, I'm only familiar with his ballads. I really liked song. Do most of his 70's songs have this vibe?

Dirty Love: Makes me want to get freaky. boxed Another artist you just got me interested in. biggrin The vocals just sounded like it was time to get down. hehe

Break 4 love: What a great ending track! Damn, I am totally feeling this one! Love the beats. Makes you just want to bob your head. What's with that lady making noises? LOL

I really enjoyed listening to your mix. Definitely a good one to listen to over and over! thumbs up!
