"Magnet and Steel" by Walter Egan (1978)

Who else REALLY loves this song? It's one of those late 70s pop classics, cool and mellow. It was used effectively in the 1997 movie 'Boogie Nights'.

"With you I'm not shy to show the way I feel
With you I might try,my secrets to reveal
For you are a magnet and I am steel
For you are a magnet and I am steel"

I love it..thank god they put it on the Boogie Nights st..I always thought that was Stevie Nicks on background chorus. This song brings back my seventies feel in my tummy. This was the summer of 78 when Meatloaf and Egan was all over the radio.

DavidEye, did u purchase that "A.M. Gold" cd? disbelief

lol

Actually, I really loved this song, and it was used pretty well in Boogie Nights - along with a lot of other "A.M." type hits.

Quentin Tarantino does a lot of that 2... takes a mediocre hit from the 70's and adds it 2 the soundtrack... it really creates a mood 4 the film, which is what it's supposed 2 do, I guess... wink

Ahhh, the summer of '78! I remember that summer like it was yesterday..."Last Dance" by Donna Summer...the movie "Grease"...and of course,"Magnet and Steel",which peaked on the charts in August.

Mick Fleetwood is the drummer on the album, and along with Lindsey Buckingham longtime Mac producer Richard Dashut co-produced the album Not Shy.
