Glee Madonna....a painful experience! Now I fully realise that Glee is just a fun programme for light entertainment, but when my missus talked me into watching the Madonna episode that aired in the UK last night it was a painful watch.
Foremost, there is something very annoying about performing arts students. They have an arrogance and a strut that really grates on me, especially when they haven't actually achieved anything yet. I used to get the bus to work from a stop near our local college; alot of performing arts students would get off there dressed liked Bowie and Britney with a cocky sneer...and I wonder how they got to be so arrogrant just from singing other peoples songs. They hadn't done anything yet to warrant having suck a cocky attitude, apart from what boiled down to a bit of karaoke!!! Secondly, that note perfect, X-Factor / Pop Idol voice that every young singer is using these days is wearing really thin. I can't tell one apart from another, they all sound alike! Kudos for being able to sing note perfect, but where's the character, the individuality? I've been to more than a few karaoke nights where there were equally good singers, so what makes them different? And alot of Madonna's stuff just doesn't sound good sung by a Kelly Clarkson wannabe. Oh, and lastly...how old are the teachers in that school? It was hard to tell some of them apart from the students! I thought the music teachers was knocking up one of his students for a second!! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

LOL! I wanna c this episode. They even made a disc outta it.
Last but not least this goes to show that even though people wanna hate on Madonna and say that she cannot sing..NO ONE can sing those songs LIKE or BETTER than her. [Edited 4/27/10 10:46am] Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I don't know why either. Since you brought Kids Incorporated up I can *see* why you said that. I didn't make the connection before.

Main my problem with the madonna episode was that the songs weren't really reworked nor really fitted into the plot like other songs usually are. 3 of the songs were just basically rehash videos and only the medley stood out. I expected more. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

had never seen it despite everyone i know telling me i'd love it. someone called up right before it came on and told me about the Madonna tribute.
so i relented and watched. absolutely hated it. it somehow made me dislike both Madonna and Jane Lynch. which i didn't think possible.

I kinda liked it last season but it's wearing thin on me already this season. I think my attention span for this show is nearing its end. It was already done before - anybody remember the show Popular? I thought it was much better personally.
And I was a bit meh about the Madonna episode. * * *

yep,it's Number One.In addition, several of Madonna's own singles and albums have begun climbing the charts on iTunes. Glee puts Madonna back on Billboard The soundtrack of 'Glee: The Power of Madonna' - The "Glee"/Madonna celebration is in full swing on the Billboard 200 albums chart, where "The Power of Madonna" soundtrack to last week's Queen of Pop-themed show debuts at No. 1 with 98,000 copies sold according to Nielsen SoundScan. Additionally, the "Glee" cast's version of Madonna's 1989 No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit Like A Prayer was the biggest selling individual track from the show last week, debuting at No. 10 on the Digital Songs chart with 87,000 downloads sold. Like A Prayer will debut at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart tomorrow when it's unveiled on billboard.com. But the party also extends to the diva's own catalog of her original recordings as well. For example, her appropriately titled Celebration greatest hits album re-enters the Billboard 200 at No. 85 with 6,000 (up 219%). That's the package's best sales week since Christmas. (In the show last week, "Glee" character Sue Sylvester gave the title some ridiculous product placement when she held the CD in her hand during an appeal to have Madonna's music blasted through the school's intercom.) All told, Madonna's catalog of albums saw a 44% jump in sales, selling 17,000 this past week (up from 12,000). Her digital song download tally this week also got a big bump. Her total track sales totaled 108,000 for the week ‹ up 169% compared to the week previous (40,000). Her two biggest-selling songs of the week were 4 Minutes and Like A Prayer (each selling 12,000 with gains of 183% and 267%, respectively). (source: Billboard)

Glee exclusive: Madonna sequel in the works! by Michael Ausiello Categories: Glee, News, Scoop Image Credit: Michael Yarish/FoxGlee is heading back into the groove with Madonna. The afterglow from last night’s smashing (and highly-rated) Madge-themed episode has barely dimmed and already series creator Ryan Murphy is talking to the Material Girl about a sequel! Murphy confirms that he’s in discussions with M’s camp and that “Madonna and her people are into it and want it to happen.” The follow-up would air early next season and feature six more songs from the pop icon’s immense catalogue of hits. (There’s talk that fans might be able to vote on which tracks should be used via a poll on Fox.com.) The Glee-Madonna marriage has already reaped huge dividends for both the show and the star. Tuesday’s episode attracted a potent 13.5 million viewers, down just 5 percent from last week’s record-setting spring premiere. Additionally, the soundtrack from the ep is currently No. 1 on iTunes and two of the singles are in the Top 20. The power of Madonna indeed. Thoughts? Is Glee smart to stay in business with Madge? And which hit should Sue tackle next? “Human Nature,” perhaps?

^ Its not bout Vadge, its bout gLee, cause thats whats working right now. If gLee decides to go down this road of courting "artist episodes" instead of plot and writing then the show won't last more than another season.
As I stated previously the madonna episode was rather boring and uninspired. It was basically video rehash. Hell the last episode with Mercedes speech in the gym said more bout female empowerment than this episode. gLee works best when it incorporates music into the plot not the other way around. This seems to me that the creator is getting a bit too drunk on his ownself. ‘Glee’s’ Jane Lynch wants a Madonna episode every year!
After the success of the Madonna episode, Jane Lynch is hoping for more Madonna. A new tribute episode each year, even. You got called out by Madonna? Jane Lynch: That was a big moment. Chris Colfer, who also got called out by Madonna, came over to me, shaking, with his phone and said “read this”, and we held each other tenderly. Ryan did confirm last weekend. He said “Hopefully there will be a second Madonna episode next year.” Jane Lynch: That would be great! We just scratched the surface with her. We’ve not yet begun to pay homage to madonna. I think maybe one Madonna episode each year. Jane Lynch: Oh, absolutely. It will always be the best episode of the year. I’m sure! 10 seasons of Glee, 10 Madonna episodes. Jane Lynch: I love it. Yes! Was that Sue actually singing Vogue or was she pretending? If it was her she sounded surprisingly good! The character I find the most annoying is Rachel. It's like she is trying too hard and is desperate to be liked. Her facial expressions are way over the top. She almost always sings lead vocals. Let some of the other girls step up 4 a change.
