80s pop flashback: "Abracadabra" by Steve Miller Band (1982)

This song takes me back to the summer of '82.I spent much of that summer watching MTV,which was barely a year old. This was a popular video that summer. The song is fun and catchy...one of my favs by Steve Miller. In the liner notes to the Steve Miller Band box set,Miller reveals that he was thinking of Diana Ross when he wrote this song."I wanna reach out and grab ya",he sings.

nod if you listen to mainstream radio today, it's obvious that high-quality singles like Abracadabra are nowhere to be found; we've got Pitbull instead neutral uzi

That song was my introduction to them. "I heat up, I can't cool down. My situation goes round and round." music
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

I think "Fly Like An Eagle" and "Rock N' Me" (both from 1976) were the first songs I heard by them.

I have a feeling amy winehouse was inspired by the verses melody for I'm No Good, I found myself singing it suddenly over this

I always liked abracadabra, but didn't realize it was steve miller band

The summer of 82 was a magical time for pop music.Just think, during that time,Prince was working on '1999' and Michael Jackson was working on 'Thriller'....the two albums that would change their careers forever.
