Don't worry, I'm not one of those orgers. In fact, I've always said (and I still stand by THIS statement....) that Clive Davis is more to blame for killing The Funk than anyone else in the history of the music industry. And here's my take: I don't think we can fault anyone for liking something. Sure, a lot of music isn't for me. Sure, at times I can get caught up in the fun but to continually take pleasure in the sh*tting of other's enjoying---well, it's petty. Dissing Whitney to earn a "cool" card is sooo 1980s. Nobody killed funk but the general public (and their apathy towards it). You can't bring it back by dissing everyone who dug the new koolaid. Sometimes I wonder, is dissing Whitney the new brown bag test (in reverse). [Edited 4/26/10 20:26pm] No, that would be dissing The Black Eyed Peas.

I do think a cover of this song could be strangely poignant and appropriate... "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

I don't feel bad for and why should I? She knows she don't have the pipes no more and still forces her hot mess of voice on unsuspecting naive fans. If she had any respect or dignity for herself, she would scrap the rest of the tour and find something else better to do. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Give herself some realness, let go of the fantasy. This might be her best strategy going forward,if she even decides to tour again. She'll have to concentrate on the songs that she can still sing, and leave out the big, showy numbers like "I Will Always Love You".Embrace her 'new' voice.

If that's the case, I want my money back now. I am not going to sit through Whitney singing, "My Love Is Your Love". People who go to see Whitney, want to hear her sing those note climbing, show stoppers...It's like going to see MJ and he not singing or dancing to "Billie Jean", but singing, "Be Not Always". I told you, her best strategy, is dinner theater....Maybe Vegas, where people are too drunk by the third song to know, if you are hitting the notes correctly anyway. Perhaps Houston should reinvent herself she aint got the smooth voice
anymore its rough and husky now Whitney could become the new Tina Turner just sit on a stool and let the soul come through although Tina might need to teach Whitney how to hold a decent note

[Edited 4/27/10 7:11am] [Edited 4/27/10 7:11am] I don't buy that lol What about all the Prince fans that turned up to the One Night Alone tour wanting to hear Purple Rain? Were they wrong to be disappointed, are they entitled to a refund because they didn't get exactly what they wanted? I think not. Artists put on a show and if you're not feeling it then don't support that artist anymore, it's that simple. Personally if I see an artist live it means I like them enough to let them put on whatever show they want, maybe it will live up to my expectations or maybe it won't, but that this notion that by paying for a ticket they must give you what you want is juvenille.

Unlike Whitney, Prince was not smoking crack. While Whitney is a great singer, her voice really shines through on songs that she is able to go full out on. What allot of people don't seem to realize is what Whitney did, was very selfish. By doing drugs, she robbed everyone around her of ever hearing those songs, sung in the way that only Whitney can. Prince can always come back and sing "Purple Rain" and it will STILL sound great. Judging from what has been posted so far, Whitney may never be able to sing those songs, as only she can, ever again. I'd prefer an artist changes a little than try to preserve an illusion from 20 years ago though the audience's intoxication But we can agree to disagree, because I wouldn't care if I never heard MJ sing Billie Jean or Prince sing Purple Rain or Whitney sing I will Always Love You ever again!
