LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rocker-turned-reality star Bret Michaels has suffered a brain hemorrhage and is in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital, People magazine reported on Friday. It quoted a source as saying the 47-year-old musician was rushed to hospital overnight with an excruciating headache, which doctors diagnosed as a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage, or bleeding at the base of his brain stem. "(It) will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation," the source told People. Representatives for Michaels were not immediately available to comment. Earlier this month, Michaels underwent an appendectomy. He also suffers from diabetes. Michaels rose to fame in the 1980s at the helm of Poison, a glam-rock band whose hits included the ballad "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." In recent years, he reinvented himself as a reality TV star in such shows as VH1's "Rock of Love" and on the current season of "The Celebrity Apprentice." He also just recorded a song with Disney starlet Miley Cyrus. "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

If the hemorrhage occurs in the brain stem, the person may plunge into a coma, acording to medical experts. Dang!

I've heard about that. Scary stuff. "What is your life, like a vapor that appears for a little while then vanish away" - James 4:14 That verse puts it all in perspective and helps me face my own mortality.

Poor guy. I hope he pulls through. I liked some of Poison's songs that were on the radio back in the 80's. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Wishing him well (...but why did I think they were talking about a wrestler when I first heard about this?). I hate seeing these stars that are somewhat idolized as immortal coming down with these awful diseases. Sometimes, life really sucks.

Here is a follow-up report and it isn't good:
http://omg.yahoo.com/news...e/39744?nc LOS ANGELES - Bret Michaels is in critical condition suffering from a brain hemorrhage, his publicist said Friday. Joann Mignano confirmed a report on People magazine's website Friday that said the former Poison frontman was rushed to intensive care late Thursday after a severe headache. The report said doctors discovered bleeding at the base of his brain stem. Mignano said tests are being conducted and that no further information was available. The 47-year-old reality TV star had an emergency appendectomy last week after complaining of stomach pains. He said on his website that though the surgery "has taken its toll," doctors expected him to make a full recovery. Michaels starred on the VH1 dating show "Rock of Love" and is a contestant on Donald Trump's NBC reality show, "The Celebrity Apprentice." Trump said in a statement Friday that he was "deeply saddened" to hear of Michaels' condition. "He's a great competitor and champion, and I hope he will be fine," Trump said.
