Billboards HOT TOURS....oh look who's on there...the infamous american one hit wonders.... Listing among the biggest tours of artists like Metallica and Coldplay and the little blonde queen Taylor Swift. Note this is for Brazil and South America only, and you can see where MONEY gets made! And look at the infamous a-ha who played their opening leg of their last tour in South AMerica aobut 10 dates so far and raked in close to 5 million or 2.6 million US currency, not bad for a "one hit" wonder in US terms, 60 more dates to go, this clearly will be a high ranking tour for the year.
Guns N' Roses ranks No. 2 for the week based on ticket sales from four concerts in Brazil and one in Argentina. Top-grosser was Estádio Palestra Italia in São Paulo (March 13) with $3 million earned at the box office and 34,872 in attendance. Another stadium date, Estadio Vélez Sársfield in Buenos Aires on March 22 drew over 35,000 fans. The five reported March dates on the band's Chinese Democracy World Tour grossed a combined total of $8.4 million. Rounding out the T4F-promoted events this week are two dates in Brazil that land Coldplay in the No. 3 spot on the Hot Tours list. The band's Viva La Vida World Tour stopped in Rio de Janeiro at Praça da Apoteose (Feb. 28) and Estádio do Morumbi in São Paulo (March 2) with grosses topping $8.2 million and almost 80,000 tickets sold. Country stars Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood are the reigning Entertainers of the Year for both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music, respectively, and both make this week's Hot Tours tally. Ranking fourth, Swift's $5 million total comes from four stops on her Fearless Tour with Philadelphia's Wachovia Center producing the top numbers from two sold out shows (March 18-19) that grossed just over $2 million. Underwood is No. 5 for the week based on totals from 12 arena dates in March grossing $4.4 million with just over 90,000 fans buying tickets.
