Here's the line-up: "For Wednesday night starting at 8/7 Central on FOX, AI will present its American Idol Gives Back episode. The show will feature American Idol Gives Back 2010 performances from Elton John, Joss Stone, Black Eyed Peas, Jeff Beck, Alicia Keys and former AI winner/recent ACM winner, Carrie Underwood." Elton John, Joss Stone, and Jeff Beck are what I would tune in for. I just saw Beck in concert last Friday and he was smokin'!

That show should've been canceled after the first season. It's horrible. [Edited 4/21/10 20:18pm]

Strange that they'd even have Jeff Beck on, but as it was I only wish they'd turned his guitar up a bit.
Elton must be so sick of Your Song. I certainly am! I can't believe there was a time when I thought I liked the Black Eyed Peas! Orianthi is not that great, but Steve Vai was paying homage to Jimmy Page which I appreciated. Amazingly, I kind of enjoyed Stairway. I am not a fan of Alicia Keys, but damn she sounded bad last night! I can't say I've ever heard that before. And that New York song was terrible & had nothing to do with anything. Common seemed so excited to introduce Carrie Underwood. Damn, that girl must be tired! She's everywhere all the time! Love Annie Lennox, but has she done a single uptempo song since going solo? When did the finalists start lip-synching their ensemble pieces? That show was extremely long to hear who gets kicked off, but at least they are doing something with their popularity. Certainly good causes. And it's nice to see them address poverty in this country, too. oh, and Joss Stone....I have some tracks for you if ya know what I mean! [Edited 4/22/10 14:29pm] My Legacy

I got a good question: why the fuck was a guitar legend like JEFF BECK on American No-Idol?!

Warner Music Group wants to sell records. The promotional push is working, Beck's new album EMOTION & COMMOTION enters the charts at #11 next week. It is his highest chart entry ever in the first week, and only has been surpassed by BLOW BY BLOW, which peaked at #4 in 1975. Music Royalty in Motion

Beck was probably asked to do it for the charity the concert was sponsoring--Save the Children.

I don't think it was his first time on Idol, though the other time may have also been the charity night Beyond the charity issue, my guess is that it may also be a return favor for Joss Stone appearing on his new album and making a guest appearance during his last tour stop here in L.A. That coupled with the fact that he'll be in town for something else anyway: http://prince.org/msg/8/334987 Music for adventurous listeners tA Tribal Records "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
