OK, call me slow but I only recently learned that Clare Fischer did some work with Rufus that predates his association with Prince. Knowing that Prince is a fan of Rufus/Chaka Khan it seems likely that he first heard Clare Fischer through his work with Rufus. I was hoping that someone could recommend a Rufus track that heavily features Clare Fischer's string arrangements. I'm very curious to hear how similar his work with Rufus is to what he later did with Prince.

The whole Ask Rufus album heavily relys on Clare's arrangements,,,esp the songs Earth Song and Egyptian Song. His input is VERY pronounced from Rufusized to Street Player. I personally think the stuff he did for them is better than Prince, he seemed within limits in Prince's work except for Crystal Ball and Old Friends For Sale.

I think his work goes back to the early 60s where he did strings arrangements for Dizzy Gillespie.

He, Gene Page & Charles Stepney are my FAVE strings arrangers.

Thanks for the recommendations. I just listened to a few songs on youtube and while the strings are certainly different than what he did with Prince it still sounded like it was arranged by the same person. I'm sure that sooner or later I'll pick these albums up.
