80s pop flashback: "Promises,Promises" by Naked Eyes (1983)

I always say that 1983 was a wonderful year for pop music. So many things were going on,all at the same time. There was the MTV phenomenon,'Thriller',New Wave,Prince was finally crossing over, and there were numerous great singles, such as this one:

Makes me wanna go back to that era, when pop music was actually fun.

One of my favorite 80's songs. That's when I really listened to the radio. Nowadays, I don't listen.

I love the 12'' Mix featuring Madonna. She does some sexy spoken word... biggrin

When Madonna recorded her part, she hadn't even released her debut album yet lol So technically, this 12" remix could be the first time she appeared on an official recording.

Yep nod Our local R&B radio played this song and alot of other 'pop' songs in the 80s.Groups like Duran Duran,Culture Club and Naked Eyes got alot of airplay on R&B radio. These groups were "crossing over",you could say.

Which station did that? I'm sure I listened to it, but didn't realize it at the time. Not much later the stations segregated. disbelief

LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE Promises Promises! The first few times I heard the song, I thought it was Duran Duran. lol *checks Ipod*

y'know that's not 2 far of a stretch. The bass does sound like Jon Taylor's doin the thumpin and pluckin. Kinda like a faster, funkier "Save A Prayer".

I absolutely adore this song! music

It always makes me think of another '83 classic, so I always put them in the same playlists:
