whitney houston's voice

listen to the chourous of this
you can hear her 'i dont give a shit if you've got talent or not, as long as you remind me of back in the 80's when i was young' fans cheering away, but the logical of us can tell how awful it was..especially to build it up before breaking out into it too -.-'
i don't know if it's the drugs that did that to her voice or what, but it's pretty sad

Yeah, it is sad. But that's smoking crack for you...it burns your lungs causing rarely reversible damage. Hence her sounding out of breath a lot and not being able to hold notes like she used to.

sadly she's done. she should accept it and enjoy retirement.
Has anyone tried unplugging the United States and plugging it back in?

I really don't understand why she went on tour. She sould have just left it with the album, which was ok. I hope for her, her voice will get better, but it doesn't look that way.
oh well, yesterday i saw her version of "and i am telling you" on youtube, and she did great things!

The Whitney we knew is gone, but she lives on in video and CD form. Today though, it's a watered down diva. Her touring was a bad idea. Release albums, do little R&B and Pop albums, but touring is a BAD BAD BAD idea.

I don't wish this on her, but I don't feel bad for her either. She dug her grave with this one. She said "fuck you" to the fans, her talent, and God himself by smoking crack, and permanently damaging her lungs, her throat, her vocal cords, and her ability to NOT be winded through one song - in short, her talent.

If she didn't care about all that, then why should anyone else? It can't be fixed unless they give her new lungs, but what about her vocal cords? Surgery would cause more damage than good. We have her on record when she was good, and I'm glad for that. But I don't feel sorry for her. She ain't stupid. She knows how bad drugs can be on the body, and the voice. She had multiple interventions, all of which she denied getting help from, and even threatened Cissy with taking away little Bobbie so Cissy would never see her again. I also understand that during those time, Whitney was operating in her addiction. It had a hold on her to the point that she wasn't thinking clearly. When you deal with someone on drugs, you're dealing with the drug, not the person. The person is toxic and not there. It's all the drug you're interacting with. A lot of fans are just angry at Whitney's disregard for it all.

Now who I feel bad for is someone like Julie Andrews who had non-cancerous nodules on her vocal cords, and was forced to quit a Broadway show because of it, then had the nodules removed, and it permanently took away her 4 octave voice. She has my sympathy. Whitney - not so much.

lol Whitney KNOWS not to bring her show home here in the US because that will literally put a halt to her career... I love her but that's the honest truth.

ITN news in the UK showed a clip of her this lunchtime 'performing' in Birmingham. She sounds like a bunch of cats fighting at midnight. It was just awful. What was funny were some of her fans arguing with each other outside the venue. Her voice is shot completely from what i saw.

Least she can buy alot of crack when the tour is over, that's what it is, a cash grab to fund her inevitable return to the crackhouse. Over and out.

She should retire. Perhaps Ms. Houston can live off of her royalties. If not publish a book or something like that.

pray Her haughtiness is put in check after this "tour".
* brick her manager, music publisher et al

*Whitney hasn't been in a "right frame of mind" for many years, by her own will. But putting her on tour at this point is about $$$. That's as bad as the crack she used.

rant over... mad

When did Whitney start doing that talk-singing nonsense she does now? I think it started way back in the late 90s?

It's almost like she has a constant tickle in her throat and just can't hold a note for an extended time without having the urge to cough. And she doesn't even seem devastated that her voice is dead!

She's actually been doing it since the Whitney tour back in 1987. That was when she became singing in a rapid pace. She didn't do that earlier but that's when it started. It's gotten worse since.

Hell if she brought that shit to the Apollo, the fans would jump on her. lol Sad to say that but hell she know better than to bring that shit to an American venue. The seats wouldn't be filled.

nod And see she know she can't do it. Black folks would boo her far worse than they did in 1989 at the Soul Train Awards.

Ooo! I just had a flashback... damn that was painful and it wasn't me. lol

I felt sorry for Houston, they tried and hung the girl out to dry befo' she could take a second step onto the stage, it wasn't purty.

Black folks can be tuff. Richard Pryor use to say sometimes black auidences would sit with their arms folded looking him as to say, "Motherfucker try to make me laugh."

lol

nod He did that every time he opened his show. I remember the intro of That N*gger's Crazy, he said, "hope I'm funny, yeah because I know some of y'all are looking at me like 'you better be mothafucka.'" lol

ABeautifulOne, SoulAlive & Timmy84: That's the truth, right there.

A little off topic, sort of...
Years ago, BWomack was trying to get back on the current charts. So he began a tour (Poet II, I think). He sounded awful. The Beacon Theatre had to call the NYPD. The audience wasn't having that mess, on their dime. They were demanding a refund right then and there.

Back on topic: Yeah Whitney knows not to bring it here.

Bobby's voice is just gone. disbelief He hasn't been touring in a while that should tell you something but I heard about that incident. Real sad.

In fact the ONLY reason Patti LaBelle agreed to do their duet lipped when they were on "Soul Train" was because Bobby's voice had been ravaged and Bobby never really sang live during all of his appearances on that show either. He is bad at lip syncing. Whitney is too.
