I just came from a doctor's appointment and there was a copy of Rolling Stone in the reception room. I don't usually read R.S. (not since they changed the format in the 80s) but I read an article about the Rolling Stones releasing a re-mastered version of "Exile" along with new or alternative versions of songs that were found amidst old tapes. The source was the long time producer of Stones' LPs since 95 or so. He said it was like diving into a treasure trove. Unlike with P's songs, the Stones agreed to release these songs--some of which are highly valued by bootleggers. The producer deliberately looked for songs that bootleggers wouldn't have--he wanted to please the bootleg community with some diamonds they didn't have. Not only that, but some new footage of the Stones will be released along with the re-mastered CD that has additional songs. And, that, my dear P., is the way you do it!
