So very sad.

I feel sorry for Sly, the band and most of all, the audience.

Sly really needs to stick to the studio or make small guest appearances at George Clinton shows.

nod or he can start writing his bio,or overseeing a biopic based on his life. There are many ways that he can remain active in the music biz,but touring isn't an option anymore.

omfg Daaaaamn!! disbelief

The sad thing is...the band sounded GREAT.They just couldn't get their "leader" to stay onstage,so the whole show was cut short.

The band definitely sounded good. nod It's a shame that Sly couldn't get it together.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Very good article about Sly in MOJO magazine a few months back...the guy spent years trying to get an interview. Sly is a very "interesting" guy...

Thank You - The Definitive Biography of Sly & The Family Stone
Thank You will be the first authorized book to discuss one of the most innovative groups popular music has ever known: Sly & The Family Stone, a band that sparked a revolution from late 1966 untill early 1975.

Their story will be told in a chronological, year by year, fashion. From the early years up to the current day, Thank You will reveal the true extent of the group’s career. It will take the reader back to the early 1950s and 1960s with extensive chapters on the Stewart Family, the Viscaynes, Sly’s roots in the niteclubs of San Francisco and the invaluable experience of working at Cougar Productions/ Autumn Records. Thank You will also follow the history of each individual member, and the two acts that formed the basis of the band, Sly & the Stoners and Freddie & the Stone Souls.

Extensive chapters tell how The Family Stone started out at Rich Romanello’s Winchester Cathedral, how they were discovered and brought to the public by David Kapralik, and how they reached their zenith at Woodstock. Thank You will focus on music and the positive achievements of Sly’s career, but will also discuss its downside and how things all came to an end.

Thank You will also contain many rare illustrations including photos, memorabilia, posters, advertisements and concert flyers as well as an extensive discography. The book will delve deep into the history of related projects such as Little Sister, Joe Hicks, 6ix, Graham Central Station, Jerry Martini’s Rubicon, Rose Stone’s solo career, and will follow each member through the mid 70s, 80s, and 90s into the new millennium.

Thank You is the result of prolonged and intensive research, including over 200 primary interviews, as well as magazine, newspaper and library archives. Quoted are those that lived it, including all the band’s members: Sly Stone, Freddie Stone, Rose Stone, Cynthia Robinson, Jerry Martini, Greg Errico, Larry Graham, and later participants Gerry Gibson, Pat Rizzo, Vet Stewart, Rustee Allen, Andy Newmark, Bill Lordan, Sid Page, Bobby Lyle and Vicki Blackwell.

Mong

I know that there was an Europe tour planned for Sly this year. There would have been an European house band. But no promoter/agent would touch it, purely down to Sly's penchant for not turning up at shows or being on stage for hardly any time.
