Every time I see Hoffman, he speaks (very soft and precise pronunciation of words) and moves his face/holds his head (expressions) like John. Plus, the characters he plays are always reminiscent of those John has already done. That's my opinion. I've seen every movie John has done, and not all of Philip's, but from what I have seen, Hoffman ALWAYS makes me think of John.
