Family Reunion features my (probably) all-time favorite O'Jays cut, the absolutely beautiful Stairway To Heaven.
I LOVE that song On the Org since 2005.

On the strength of Stairway To Heaven alone I am inclined to agree with you... but then again, Ship Ahoy and Survival are strong contenders for the #1 spot in my book as well I'm going to have to say that the three aforementioned albums share the #1 spot on my list. Coming in at #2 is Back Stabbers On the Org since 2005.

All of their 70s albums are excellent but 'Family Reunion' stands out. It's a perfect album from beginning to end."I Love Music" is quite possibly my favorite song of all time.

I Love Music is my FAVE song from them all.
Only recently I realized that the percussion playing in the beginning was done by none other than Mr.Bill Cosby himself.

I think they're buddies. Wikipedia also says that Cleavon Little sings in the record, the "get it on, get it on, get it on" bit. I hope somebody confirms this because wiki are not that credible most of the times.

I may have to pick up this remaster, id find it pretty hard to pick a favourite from their sterling body of work. Life has a way of making you live it. . . .

Yep,it's hard to pick a favorite O'Jays album. The majority of their 70s albums are excellent.'Backstabbers' and 'Ship Ahoy' are commonly listed as their best albums, and I would also add 'So Full Of Love' to that list.

I would definitely agree with you all! I mean you can't go wrong with what the O'Jays did during their 1972-75 peak. Backstabbers, Ship Ahoy, Survival and Family Reunion should be in every soul and funk lover's collection. I'll have to check out the So Full of Love album. Why is the Survival album so overlooked? I picked this up last week and the ballads on there are stellar. I also picked up the 2010 reissue of Family Reunion and it was like listening to a brand new album as it had remastered sound and liners... [Edited 6/17/10 6:43am] Check me out and add me on:
