I don't tend to be jealous of people with no discernable talent. How is GaGa not talented? 1. She WRITES HER OWN MUSIC 2. She CAN PLAY INSTRUMENTS 3. She CAN SING 4. She comes up with ideas to her OWN VIDEOS

This thread, has helped me get the song "I 'm not perfect, but I am perfect for you". Its so 1986, down to the Keith Haring Art, the most outrageous mullets and bright colour (Electric blue, razzmatazz orange, juicy red and pizazzy pink etc) excesses of the mid-late 80s (I call it Zamboanga colours for some reason, check out the decor too in the movie Outrageous people). That video is hilarious down to the anomymous black dude with the hideous fade mullet, the huge Keith Haring dress thing and Graces weird horned dress zither frame thing she is wearing, and lets not forget the milk bath.
I even watched Vamp, but it was hideous, Grace ripping the heart out of the Asian chick was the best part and the transvestite dance thing in albino make up she did at the start. Top that Gaga! So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Gaga obviously has been inspired by many artists and singers of the 70s/80s, not just Grace Jones. Grace is jealous of Gaga's enormous success because Gaga is doing some of what Grace did and is getting rave reviews for it. Grace needs to stop hating.
Jealous of what? Long nose jacking her style and claiming she's "an artist"? Sit with that mess. the good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge ~ Bertrand Russel

I don't tend to be jealous of people with no discernable talent. She might be playing to the lowest musical denomination but she is talented, no doubt. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Visually I think Gaga does some interesting things even while she's "borrowing" from other acts, but what's most concerning for me is that her MUSIC is dull. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Well not everyone can come up with lyrics as brilliant as La,la,la,He,he,hee Or have the smarts to rhyme robba with job-a. How does she not have anything to say? What is the exact qualification for a song saying something? Cause to me it seems she says a lot to a lot of folk.

The thing is that it wouldn't even matter if her songs (every single one of them) were about superficial or fun subjects. That doesn't mean they don't say something. Music doesn't have to speak to or touch all in order to be "worthy". There is no scale or chart for this.

And sometimes songs can be about nothing and yet speak of freedom and abandon, like many of P's early songs. Things like HEAD and a million other early P songs are pretty much about partying and fuckin but we can identify with them on different levels. It's all about whether you personally enjoy the artist or not. Not about musical merit or substance.
