I'm surprised she wasn't asked about Rihanna but I think her response would've been the same. nod Besides it was the interviewer who only mentioned Gaga's name.

spit Your comment is ridiculous. Grace Jones has better things to do than be jealous of some overhyped little girl. She is those types of people who really don't give a damn about what you or anyone else thinks.

You know I almost put Grace down as one of the artist that changed my life (in a different thread). The first time I ever saw her perform was on The Midnight Special and I was sold.

Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I think mainly because Rihanna has never been labeled an "originator", but in respect everyone is borrowing and has been, with that said, its more the fact that there is a "thought process" and "Marketing scheme" behind the so called "borrowing" now more than ever. I mean the Beatles early on were "borrowing and covering" things, but then around 1965 they allowed their talents take over and now those things they did are "borrowed", and they are "originators". So all things come around again, but now the times are so starved for something different, there are marketing teams looking for "different" rather than allowing someone to create it.

Typical Gaga monsterbot response:
"'Fill-in-the-blank' is bitter and jealous of Lady gaga's success."
I guess if Paul McCartney or somebody like that said it, they'd be jealous too? OR
Maybe...just MAYBE, with all of the video proof and pictures floating around that substantiate that Gaga's style comes from combinations of other artists - MAYBE her team does actually steal from other artists to make her look happen? But what do I know, I'm just bitter and jealous of her success. rolleyes

and Grace Jones should choke the sh*t out of Rihanna.

When it was MIA, she did come off very bitter and desperate, but Grace was short and to the point about it. I don't think she was looking for the headline...MIA was really fishing for it!

Top pic (rude boy green screen) is Rhianna tribute to the Graces Jones striptease dance on the 1986 film "Vamp" were Jones wear a cool design by Keith Harring, the same scene was the inspiration for the Salma Hayek dance on "From Dusk Till Dawn" and it was the inspiration for Tale from The Crypt the movie "Demon Knight" too.

Graces Jones is the shit!

India sounded like she wanted to help Gaga or something, MIA has this "she took my spot but she ain't me", she was all over the place, Grace's response was what I expected. lol

Grace Jones is Original Coke a Gaga is New Coke. Sure, sales spike up out of interest but folks eventually start to notice the new flavor doesn't live up to the original and discard the "latest flavor" away like a two dollar whore.

Gaga should have given herself time to evolve as an artist and grow her own image and style. Now, she is feeling the bite of a fickle public who will disgard her along with the rest of the supposed superstars of the past decade who can't sell a knock off Burberry handbag at the flea market.

There's no fucking with Grace Jones...she KNOWS that! We'll STILL be talking about Grace Jones when Lady Gaga and Rhianna are BOTH distant, faded memories of wannabes gone by! geek

I find it laughable that Gaga has been milking her original album to the death as if she fears the sophomore jinx.

Her reign is over once she releases a follow up.

i have never seen someone with an image so contrived.

Grace Jones sounds bitter and jealous. Lady Gaga isnt copying anyone, but has she borrowed from other artists, yes! Aint nothing wrong with that. Gaga obviously has been inspired by many artists and singers of the 70s/80s, not just Grace Jones. Grace is jealous of Gaga's enormous success because Gaga is doing some of what Grace did and is getting rave reviews for it. Grace needs to stop hating.

okay, so if there is anyone that has a right to say "Lady Gaga is copying me" it would be Grace Jones. she's not sounding bitter or jealous here at all. she actually sounds like she doesn't want to discuss it and doesn't particularly care. but if pressed, Grace will always tell you what she really thinks.

Rihanna is very 2 years ago. No one is asking anyone about Rihanna at this point. Even to Rihanna herself.

she's been hot for a little over a year. she's supposed to have moved on and grown & evolved as an artist already?

Rhianna's "Grace Jones" act is the most DISRESPECTFUL, if you ask me...because as crass, unfeeling and tactless as this may be...how in the hell do you even try to emulate GRACE JONES...after you've gotten your ass kicked PUBLICLY by Chris Brown? eek confuse whofarted hmm

No, never ever.

Christina Aguilera threw grease at her, and she didnt bite back. Katy Perry was throwin some shade. Now MIA and Grace Jones too.

She won't respond to none of them. It can get VERY lonely at the TOP.

That's not what I am saying. I am saying, her PR and label should have allowed her to grow as an individual artist before they dumped all that money into shoving her into the public conscience the way they did (and for the amount of time they are doing it).

heck, she's headlining a tour with one freaken album? Janet sold way more and was way bigger and even she didn't do that.

I'm not a Gaga fan, but she has kept it classy by not getting into these spats. And I'm not a fan just because the music doesn't move me, but it seems kind of ridiculous to be angry at her for having some influences. confused
