2010's = The decade in which most artists & fans are going retro 90's

It just dawn on me as of April 12, 2010.

So we're going to hear a lot of how "great" the 1990's were.

And for the record, I think I'm finally getting old and I'm still age 35. disbelief

Anyway, here is the first two of our 90's flashback:

Nuttin' Nyce were a girl group that came out within the same generation that included En Vogue, TLC, SWV, & Jade. But unlike those other group, Nuttin' Nyce only last one career album.

I'll have more to follow depending on everyone else's interest in this thread. I can only hope that my fellow orgers that had childhoods in the 70's & 80's don't piss on the 90's too badly, especially if we have die-hard 90's fans around here somewhere. lol

Well, too bad. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. cool

BACK ON TOPIC: The Party Machine with Nia Peeples

Even today, I'm disappointed that this show lasted only one season. But it was an excellent season that pretty much shows what music was hot in the very early 90's. Here are a few scenes from classic episodes:

lol Damn, why am I not surprised? lol People have beeen bitching about the 90s since 2006. I was born in '91 and I'm not a 90s kid at all, but I do remember a lot stuff from that time. But as for music, I only like Hip-Hop, R&B, and some Pop music, but even that's not saying much. Anyway, I just think it's hilarious how many people want to entirely blame Lil Wayne and Soulija Boi because of how bad Rap/Hip-Hop is nowadays, but wait a minute! How come no one ever mentions people Lil Jon and The EastSide Boys, The Franchise Boys, or D4L? They were mostly the reasons why I really didn't like a lot of Rap music at that time. lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

1990 is when i turned 20, coincidentally it's about the time i started listening to the radio less, by '95 i was done with mainstream radio completely. This is entirely down to the quality of music sucking, and from what i hear getting bumped in stores and cars, things have got only worse.

60's, 70's and 80's is where i mainly reside, cause, well it just WAS better. Nobody could possibly disagree, could they?

I'm glad somebody else noticed the pattern hmmm

2000-2005: It was the 70s retro
2006-2008: It was the 80s(sometimes 60s) retro
2010: LIKE YOU SAID! lol

From my end, I'm not pissing on it(it was the decade where I 1st started to build my music library from).

But looking back, and I know somebody else might feel this way too, its like the "depression" eek almost everything sounded so moody, dark and VERY melancholy.

Not that I have a problem with it(hell, some days I'm ALL for it) but usually I shy away from that period(musically).

With that said, its a FAAAAAR cry from the bullshit we're going through now(musically that is) but looking at the bright side, more young people now are relying on their listening experience more to the pre-80s music than before. Thank you internet.

Hell, the 1990s never left as far as the mainstream goes. Yeah, there was some great housy type dance songs in the early 1990s but they were mainly in the gay clubs. As far as the radio goes, the same bullshit that's all over the airwaves today is the same bullshit that was all over the airwaves back then. We haven't had a style change at all (at least R&B-wise) since the early 1990s. It's been slow to midtempo shit hop and adult contemporary. Nothing's changed.

To some extent, I agree. Hip-Hop now isn't entirely different from the late 90s. Although I like a very few artists today, I will admit a lot of them sound like trash and Hip-Hop and R&B is hard to distinguish nowadays (no thanks to P. DIddy who popularize that mess). I really hope they don't try to bring back the 90s era at all, because it sure as hell ain't gonna make my life any better or any worse. And if you really think about it, the 90s was so dark and to some extent, well in completely boring because I was a young child back then. Still, I think people need to come up with some new trends and ideas and stop trying to rip off of other decades. lol lol

Yea, we have a radio station that says, "Hits of today and the 90s."

Radio is awful. They will define what the 90s means. You surely will not hear Rahsaan Patterson, TTD or the Family Stand. 90s artists all.
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Like that trance type stuff? Boring. It was great in the early 1990s when it was house and the majority of the artists were black but when the blacks abondoned it and it turned into trance, it became boring as hell because all the funkiness left from it. When it was still house, it was like a reincarnation of disco, which was great.

the 90's had a LOT going on.

A lot going on but all boring things.

falloff I don't don't care for a lot of gangsta rap, except for a few, I prefer alternative hip hop. Next are R&B and some Pop music, other than that, I don't care about those other genres from the 90s.

I can only hope that my fellow orgers that had childhoods in the 70's & 80's don't piss on the 90's too badly, especially if we have die-hard 90's fans around here somewhere. lol

i used to love nuttin nyce and their debut album especially 'wandering eyes', 'show me' and 'down 4whateva'.

Does anybody know where i can get the remix for 'froggy style' (featured on one of the pure swing R&B compilations ) i have been looking for that for ages.

New Jack Swing was good until it vanished in the mid-90s.

A lot going on but all boring things.

and alt-rock, grunge, gangsta rap, sensitive female singer-songwriters, alternative electronic stuff.... the 90's had a LOT going on.

falloff I don't don't care for a lot of gangsta rap, except for a few, I prefer alternative hip hop. Next are R&B and some Pop music, other than that, I don't care about those other genres from the 90s.

maybe not, but you can't say there wasn't a lot going on. there was, whether it was stuff that was interesting to you or not.
