"Million Dollar Babe" is one of my favorite Stacy Lattisaw songs.A cool,New Wave-styled sound....sorta Motown-ish too. It's a shame that this song didn't get more attention from pop music stations. This should have been a huge crossover hit for Stacy.

Her unsung was pretty good. Stacy wasn't much of a dancer and she couldn't hang in that department. I did like some of her music, but when she came out with the video for nail it to the wall, I knew it was almost over for her!

Johnny Gill was on the Monique show clarifying the rumors about his lifestyle with Eddie Murphy he said he has a lady with a four year old son who is his world. cool

Stacy used to be a hot teen star!

I've lost the use of my heart, But I'm still alive, Still looking for the life, The endless pool on the other side, It's a wild wild west, I'm doing my best, I'm a soldier of love, Every day and night, I'm soldier of love, All the days of my life.

I remember in Sister 2 Sister magazine about 3 yrs. back that they did a big interview with Johnny about his son. Back @ that time they were casual so he said during the interview he had to make sure he was his & once it was established he was then he made sure he was taking care of him. He must have decided since then to stay with his son's mother cause @ that he wasn't.

I do believe Stacy didn't really want to be a singer in the spotlight. She was very shy. It kind of reminds me of when Janet first started recording albums. U can tell she didn't really want to do it either. But the difference is Janet blossomed. Staci got more and more uncomfortable. Staci did have a good run though. To me she shouldn't have any regrets. I don't believe she really walked away. I just feel it was nothing they could do with her anymore. They pimped her and when the music industry changed. Gave her the option to walk away and she did.

She had a very beautiful voice. But in the end it wasn't enough. Either get on the casting couch and sell your soul or walk away with your pride. She seems very happy now so her life is good.

I agree. She had a very good run that lasted throughout the entire decade (1980-1989).She can be proud of her legacy and all the hit singles that she had.She was very popular with R&B audiences.Anyone who listened to R&B radio in the 80s can easily name several of her hits. Her talent is undisputable.I think she left the music biz at the right time...just before everything went downhill. If she had stayed around, they would have paired her with a lame shit hop producer in the 90s and she would have been making crap music.

Exactly! But I feel she should go on tour and try to make a comeback. She had some good songs and can easily come back. I think eventually she will after the demand from Unsung. Even though she say she doesn't because she found God. But trust me she want that acceptance because U can tell she didn't feel appreciated.

Al Green came back. Little Richard came back. Stephenie Mills. all after being saved.

I can respect anybody that quit before the 1990s arrived. She had already gotten adult contemporary on some of her songs in the late 1980s (like so many other artists did also....unfortunately) but it would have been unforgivable if she had stuck around for the 1990s and gone shit hop. lol

this is the most boring episode of unsung yet. what i got from it is she never seemed that interested in being an artist and then when she got older and the industry was changing she quit because she was affraid of failure.

Um, no. I think you may need to watch it again. In case you chose not to...she left the industry because they wanted her to be more like Whitney and Janet. She was her own person. Plus, Motown cheated her out of some money. Both reasons seem valid enough for me.

how could she be like whitney AND janet when they were nothing alike? what artist hasnt been cheated out of money. if she chose to leave thats fine i just didnt find her unsung interesting.

I liked it because I wondered what happen to her.She was so young starting out. She had a lot of hit songs at a young age. Before the music video era. Which was when real talent & singers were on the radio .

I agree, she could easily make a comeback if she chose to.She could perform on one of those tours that feature other 80s R&B artists,or something like the annual Budwesier SuperFest.I could imagine her doing a tour with someone like Jeffrey Osborne.

Originally it's been the Barkays,Confunkshun,Dazz Band,Ohio Players,and
Slave. I think the lineup varies but the core is the Barkays,Confunkshun, and
the Dazz Band. I just left Myrtle Beach this weekend and the Barkays are
playing there on May 8. I may go back for that show.
