How can we compare the 2? Dick had a "friendlier" personality than Don, but Don had the voice that drove women crazy. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I like both. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

They're both terrible interviewers, but I'd rather talk to Dick myself. Listening to Don talk is like watching paint dry. "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu

Exactly. Enough with these stupid comparison threads. Apparently there's room for everyone, and always has been, or people wouldn't be trying to compare everyone.

Both men gave us shows that were accepted by everybody. I love watching classic American Bandstand as much as I love watching classic Soul Train. Hell we need to be lucky classic ST is seen on TV in some format, we hardly see classic AB anymore. [Edited 4/6/10 11:18am]

It's not like they were Barbara Walters or anything. Right?
I can't remember the last time I saw either of these dudes but if they had something worthwhile to say, I'm sure I would have remembered. The last time I saw Soul Train,,,Shemar Moore was hosting.

Don is my distant cousin so I gotta choose him "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Lee King from our local dance show "Black Gold". He was much hipper than Don and used to dance with the dancers. Andy is a four letter word.

[Edited 4/6/10 11:18am] Maybe it's because Dick Clark was wise to take AB off of TV right before the music industry was changing for the worst. It's a shame that Soul Train & Top Of The Pops didn't do the same thing.

Don was stiff and distant, he had this air like he's above EVERYBODY in the room, including the artists he interviewed. And that monotonous voice he looks/sounds like the parody of the Living Colors skit as opposed to the opposite.
