Unsung - Uncut...& More So did anyone watch TV|ONE's Unsung Uncut? It was great seeing these live and uncut performances. Some I'd never seen. They included:
Donnie Hathaway - Put Your Hand In The Hand Rose Royce - Car Wash Minnie Ripperton - Loving You Teena Marie w/ Rick James - I'm Just A Sucker For Your Love Shalamar - Second Time Around Klymaxx - Meeting In The Ladies Room Zapp - Computer Love James Brown - Ain't It Funky (with a 19 year old Bootsy soloing on bass) All of the performances were awesome for me. Also, in the next coming couple of weeks, Unsung will be profiling Staci Lattisaw, and The Bar-Kays.

Some of the performances were good. Some I could've done without.
I mistakently thought, the concept was to add more commentary, not more music. So in a nutshell, it was somewhat boring to me in places. I wanted to hear more about the artists personal lives and struggles that I thought were edited out in the previous Unsungs...not the performances. I feel that most of us already have heard, or have seen the songs performed in entirety. My interest lies in the artists stories that occur behind the scenes of the songs and performances.

Looking forward to Stacey Lattisaw! All of my life, I wondered who sang the "Love On Two Way Street" song. I first heard it when I was a kindergardener attending a Middle School talent show with my babysitter. I loved the song so much. It was in my head all night. I assumed that the origianl singers were the Jackson 5. Then when I learned that it wasn't true, I believed it to be Deniece Williams. It wasn't until the commercial promoting this show that I realized it was Stacy Lattisaw! And here I was only excited about that duet she did with Johnny Gill (which was my favorite song years later). However, now I know that, she's been around. And has the sweetest voice. Too bad she doesn't sing anymore. Heard she became a Christian.

I always wondered what happen to her. Her career was so promising. I guess now I'll finally find out. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! Now Jazmine Sullivan was a child prodigy - that clip of her aged 12 singing "Home" is ridiculous.

I don't get all the fuss with Lattisaw. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Didn't her mother sing with Marvin Gaye while they were in high school, they were in the same group or something like that? [Edited 4/12/10 9:16am]

I'm not sure why people thought it was going to be longer interviews or something. It was always advertised as uncut performances they had highlighted in the shows. I enjoyed it. Many of those I had never seen.

I guess Jazmine Sullivan was a child prodigy. She can sing. But her voice doesn't move me at all. i guess because she doesn't sound feminine enough for me. I like women with feminine singing voices... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"!
