Can't beat that early Madonna sound....I just love the memories the album brings back when I hear it. I was only 6 when True Blue came out, but I begged my Mum to buy me that album 'cos I loved Open Your Heart, then I got hold of her previous two albums to. Use to play those cassettes to death!! biggrin

Erotica was the first new Madonna album after I became a hardcore Madonna fan so that's a muscial landmark for me to. But being 11 when it came out, boy was it steamy! I didn't even get half the songs on it...took me three or four years before I realised that "Where Life Begins" was about oral sex, but I'd already been floating round the house, merrily singing along to it by then. Whoops!

nod it's got a cool early 80s sound. All they needed to do was polish it a little more, maybe record new vocals and it would have been excellent.

Sometimes I feel I have to get away
I change my mind when I look in your eyes

music she recycled some of these lyrics on one of the songs from LAV.

this is how I would rank the songs:

1)Physical Attraction
2)Think Of Me
3)Everybody
4)Lucky Star
5)Holiday
6)Borderline
7)Burning Up
8)I Know It

This isn't one of my favorite Madonna albums.Yeah,it's fun and catchy, but I don't think she started making truly brilliant albums until 'Like A Prayer'.

It grooves, sounds great, and right now at least to these ears, sounds 'current'.

I know it's considered one of Madonna's best, but I just can't get into "Like A Prayer" for some reason boxed. The title track is one of my favorite songs of all time, as is the video. I also like "Promise To Try", "Cherish" and "Dear Jessie", but I just cannot get into that album as a whole. I thought maybe it was just due to my age 'cause I first bought the album when I was around 11 or 12 and I found it completely boring then, but now over 10 years later and it's still not one of my faves. With the exception of a few songs, I hardly listen to that album. I just can't get into it.

Although I don't love absolutely everything she's done,
she's still high on my list, withstanding the test of time,
remaking herself, and inevitably rising to the top over
and over again. It's hard not to admire that!

So yeah, she gets my vote of appreciation! cool

highfive Like a Prayer is almost as overrated as Erotica. For my money, Madonna's three best albums are easily Ray of Light, Confessions on a Dance Floor, and Madonna. No question.

My favorite three Madonna records that Prince played his ass off on are (in no order):

1) Like a Prayer
2) Like a Prayer
3) Like a Prayer

We absolutely loved it.
At 50 she still puts on a show that is not only current and relevant (I loved the updates on her classics I want them as an album on their own), but one that is miles ABOVE most entertainers.

3 songs in she was doing numbers grand enough to be the finale in most folk's shows. This is why we can pick on all her surgery pics and shit but you really can't fuck with this bitch. lol

This show also made me realize that Prince could do an awesome (funky gueetar then rock gueetar cloud9) cover of Human Nature if he hadn't become so prissy and proper.

I would add "True Blue" on there as well, but I definitely agree with that list. I think those are her best albums as well.
