MADONNA: New footage, same attitude (video)

Madonna: New footage, same attitude

Advocate.com have published a clip that just looks like an outtake from the shooting of the Vogue video. Their sources say it is from an unreleased Nike commercial:
The clip finds the Madonna making fun of her late ‘80s Pepsi scandal. In the video footage Madonna has her arms covering her bare chest, looks at the camera smiling, and says, 'I wear what I want and I do what I want. Ask Pepsi.'
With the last remark, the entertainer references the 1989 controversy, in which she was paid a then-record $5 million as part of an endorsement deal, that included the filming of a commercial for the soft drink. The deal was scrapped by Pepsi executives due to threats of protests from right-wing Christian groups, such as the American Family Association, due to perceived sacrilege in her 'Like A Prayer' video, now considered one of the creative high points of Madonna’s storied career. The singer was allowed to keep the $5 million and her commercial aired only once on network television.

American pop stars are constantly reinterpretting American themes, like “liberty” in their art. Madonna was always famous for this being a strong woman, who said it was okay for woman to do exactly what the boys of America were doing too.

Perhaps in response to Tiger Woods Nike commercial recently, comes this footage of The Material girl. Shot on the set of the Vogue video in February 1990, this previously unreleased commercial video of Madonna was meant to be a Nike promo.

The rumor goes, that Madonna took too much time to sign Nike’s contract so the sports apparell company had her replaced by Forver You Girl star Paula Abdul.

“I wear what I want… and I do what I want… Ask Pepsi” says Madonna in the clip. And my question is… is liberty wearing what you want and doing what you want? Or is it deeper than that? smile

Liberty is deeper than that, but wearing what you want and doing what you want is still an aspect of liberty or being free to do what you want and wear what you want.

I miss "Bedtime Stories" Madonna. Right after the David Lettermen scandal. At that point she did it all, lost the chip on her shoulder and had a great sense of humor. She was much wiser and smarter. I think she was still a smart ass during "Blonde Ambition"/"Truth Or Dare". With "Erotica" and "Sex", she was creating art but was sort of rejected by the mainstream. It was kind of crazy. With the tour, she seemed to take it in stride but the Letterman appearance showed maybe she hadn't (although I thought it was all in good fun, she could have dialed it back a bit). And even though the follow ups to "Take A Bow" didn't set the charts on fire (and I thought where wildly different from the feel of the album as a whole), she was still cool as exhibited by the pajama party to preimere "Bedtime Story" as well as some behind the scenes footage of "Human Nature" that I saw recently....she talked about the possibility of going out on the road...frankly, "Evita" killed everything, IMHO. She's been a drag lately, even if she seems spiritually fulfilled.

I miss that Madonna too,but come on....she's 51 years old now, with four children lol She can't go around appearing on talk shows, smoking a cigarette and still talking about peeing in the shower, lol.

I'd argue that she still has a sense of humor. She was hilarious on 'The Marriage Ref' and if you watch the bonus footage on the 'Sticky and Sweet' DVD,you will see glimpses of the wild, crazy Madonna.
