Dang which parts can you actually hear his voice besides the scene where he sings with his sister?? I think that was sung by someone else. I think that part in "Nothing But Love" and that one part in acapella was him though.

But when Duck cursed out JT and his fiancee in the middle of the whole crowd at the ceremony that mess was priceless!!!! "There's two people I'd like to thank, my fiancee and my brother (JT is so damn clueless that he's actually smiling but the fiancee knew what Duck was talking about)...My brother, he's still the same selfish MUTHAFUCKA SINCE WE WERE KIDS!!!" JT: "Don't do this here, what are you talking about?" Duck: "I hope I can get a deal like Flash because today's my last day as a Heartbeat too." JT: "Duck don't do this!!!" (All you can hear are Duck's loud ass platform shoes walking off the stage) [Edited 4/8/10 19:45pm] Hilarious!!! Flash was slick with his exit though. He's just like 'I'm Out!'. Didn't Choirboy leave too? That group just fell apart. Does anybody know of a deleted scene in which girlfriend was pregnant but didn't know if either JT or Duck was the daddy? WTF??? I've never ever seen this scene before in my life. Where is this at?? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I know one thing, Michael Wright (Eddie) lip synched his part horribly in that scene. He actually looked like he was going to hurl. Give him a call" That scene alone is what made me fall in love with Eddie and the movie itself. Though Eddie had issues with insecurity (feeling like his father never really accepted him) and just flat out made bad decisions (that whole shit with Big Red was awful) he never acted like he stuck up or was above the group (like Flash did). Yeah Eddie was troubled. I still cry when Eddie and his father have that argument. That scene oddly enough reminds me of Marvin and his father. I can just imagine Marvin Sr. telling Marvin Jr.: "You ain't gonna be shit 'cause I ain't shit, hmm?" And then Eddie's mother scolding his father, "why you have to say all that?! Act like you ain't ever cared for the boy!" then his dad said "I do care about that boy, I just want him to be a better man than me." LOL, one of my fav scenes. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I don't know...when this film came out all those years ago folk were talking about this supposed deleted scene. I was like Maybe it's an urban legend but hot damn, if it's true it should have been in the movie. It kind of makes sense because I always wondered why JT was so stuck on this chick and adamant about her not marrying Duck. So he tapped her ass...so what? She'd be just another chick right?

Since y'all said this was originally supposed to be a comedy, I wonder what the original cast would have looked like.
Obvious Robert and Keenen but I wonder it the other spots would have been filled by the Black Pack members Arsenio, Eddie Murphy and Paul Mooney? Would have been great. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I have to admit there WAS some comedy in it. That last bit when Flash reemerges with the fucking Four Horsemen and they're singing some Prince-styled song and then JT struts over and turns it off.

Yeah I think he was planning a different cast, and he originally wasn't going to be in it, but that all changed when he began to hear stories from those who lived during that time period, that's when he changed it from a comedy to a musical film.

Other interesting details about the Five Heartbeats:
Though the timeline starts off in 1965, several of the songs played during their early years were Delfonics recordings from 1968-1970! Anyone else notice that? There was some Four Tops songs played that was in the right time period though ("Shake Me, "Wake Me (When It's Over)" and "It's the Same Ole Song" though by the end of that song, the timeline speeds to 1968).

That scene was actually hilarious when people threw stuff at them, especially Choirboy. But as funny as it was when the film was made, that actually happened at the Apollo Theater. And Big Red actually tricked people to dissing the Heartbeats even before they came onstage when they went against Bird and the Midnight Falcons. After Duck threw dude off the piano bench, the audience's moods changed drastically after Eddie opened his soulful voice. I love when his mother is going "YES" in the audience and his dad is like .
