Gil Scott-Heron-I'm new here How about giving some love to the great Gil Scott-Heron.
The godfather of rap and spoken word have just released the fantastic comeback album "I'm new here". It's his first album for 16 years and it's some great stuff on it. I have all his albums from 1970 and forward so I've been on a Gil Scott-Heron trip since this new cd came out. Also I get a chance to see him in person when he come to Stockholm,Sweden May 20. Last time I was gonna see him,1994 the show was cancled so I hope for better luck and a magical evening this time:) http://www.youtube.com/wa...ET8SVAGELA /peace Manki

The album clocks in under 30 minutes - and a good part of that is spoken word segues as opposed to fully formed songs. I have seen Gil several times as I lived in Washington, DC during the time he did. I have every album. THis is a good one. Get the vinyl album because there are some classic bonus tracks on ti

I love Gil Scott-Heron. I've tried to listen to his new disc, and every time I feel sad after listening. I can't take how weak is voice is now. [Edited 4/6/10 14:32pm]

His voice has aged and is whiskeydrenched but
I still love it.He still got a whole lot of soul in his voice. Just listen to "New York is killing me" and "I'll take care of you" from his new album,He's still the man in my opinion. /peace Manki

Covering Robert Johnson? Interesting, considering he's a poet, but he does a pretty cool take on it. My Legacy
