I'm think Ratner or Trump lol

Was that not Brett Ratner in the video with Michael in the car when he was dancing to 'Ignition'? Or did I get that confused.

Regarding the Last.FM, thing, admittedly, I was wrong to use that as a gage and I hadn't thought that through or checked the statistics of enough artists to be aware of any kind of bias.

I wasn't trying to snipe at you, seeingvoices, so I wasn't looking for any sarcastic responses from either you or MOL.

Anyway, how do you guys explain that Elvis and The Beatles are thus far the only two artists to be certified at more than a billion albums sold? That's a legitimate question that I'm seeking the answer for, I'm not trying to be facetious with you. We're all MJ fans here. I'm just trying to get some answers.

yeah that was Brett, but if I remember correctly, Michael accused him of trying to get the ATV catalog. They fell out sometime after the trial

I would have thought it was Rick James or Stephanie - but all is pure speculation. Also Ratner wouldn't have had the pull to get the ATV songs - so doubt that was the issue if there was an issue. Some people drift, and other's fall out over regular things.

'Disturbed' Spike Lee Takes On Michael Jackson Movie

Spike Lee was "disturbed" enough about Michael Jackson's death and aftermath to write a new movie about it, according to one of the film's likely stars, Samuel L. Jackson.

"Spike was bent out of shape about Michael Jackson's death for a long time," said Samuel Jackson. "(He was) depressed."

"I guess the depression set him into writing that story. He was disturbed by the death."

The movie will be called 'Brooklyn Loves You, Michael Jackson.'

Jackson explained that Lee's movie will be about people who want to throw a concert in Brooklyn for Michael "and the new gentrified people that live in the neighborhood (who) are worried about the kind of element that might be coming into the neighborhood."

Lee was a key organizer of an actual 'Brooklyn Loves You, Michael Jackson' concert thrown for Michael Jackson's birthday following his 2009 death.

Samuel Jackson said it "looks like I might be doing" the movie and hopes Julianne Moore will play his wife.

The actor had lunch with the Lee the day after the Oscars at Los Angeles restaurant Mr. Chows. "We had a power meeting. We talked about it and I read the script. So it should be okay."

Samuel Jackson was speaking from the press day of his new movie "Mother and Child" which opens May 7.

Michael's bodyguard (Bill) is sharing some intresing stories on facebook. His name is listed as MJ's Bodyguard. He's guarded about personal details, but i found this story funny:

Question: ok am curious about this and i KNOW alot of people would like to know too so here it goes Bill... did you saw MJ flirting with girls alot? was he a natural flirt or just avoided the whole thing cause of his shyness?

MJ's Bodyguard: I was not going to answer this but I'll give u guys a little. Yes, MJ was very charming, he did flirt from time to time. Sometimes he would ask me to get someones number or ask do I think someone is cute. It was so funny to watch dude flirt. I tell women I meet that I have a dog, I would hear MJ tell women he has a Zoo! how do you top someone that has a Zoo?

question: i wanna make a list of celebrities that actually stood by him during the dark times: Donald Trump, Chris Tucker, Liz Taylor, Whoopi Goldberg, Rick James, Stephanie Mills, Dick Gregory, Brett Ratner

Answer: You named someone that MJ really hated, Im not gonna say who at this time.

Qustion: Hi can you tell us honestly, is it true that MJ was lonely and unhappy and he was looking for a love? I can't stop thinking about it
Answer: I cant say he was looking for love, he just wanted peace and live a normal life.

lol

yeah that was Brett, but if I remember correctly, Michael accused him of trying to get the ATV catalog. They fell out sometime after the trial

I didn´t know that. I thought they were great friends till his death cause there are just so many pictures of them together.

Sarcastic response from Me? Dude, I was never sarcastic, and I apologize If my comment appeared that way.

I was just hoping you would come with a stronger proof, that Elvis and the Beatles are more popular than MJ globally…but you didn’t..but at least you were honest and you addmited that your proof was flawed...props to you.

No one knows a heck about Elvis or the Beatles in the middle east For example or the majority of Africa .

Those billion sales (an exaggeration and inflation of course) are mainly from the U.S, U.K and some parts of Europe.

MJ was the only one who reached to every culture, race, and language…every continent.

Some jealous fans of those two artist ( I don’t mean you ) will hate this fact, but I think they have to deal with it , MJ was bigger than both globally.

Whilst I respect your opinion and in a certain way you may be right - there is no denying that the influence of The Beatles and Elvis was and has been global. I'm a fan of The Beatles, but not of Elvis, but can say without a doubt that both artists were influencers and both are icons in the music world. That isn't to rob MJ of any of his influence or reach. I just think there is always room for appreciation of all times of music - and always room at the top.

Also if The Beatles went such a big influence (and still are today) then MJ's purchase of the ATV catalogue wouldn't have been a wise investment, and we all know how valuable that is today.

As for tallies - it appears many cannot land on a real figure, and many will combine album sales and single sales and even digital downloads of individual songs to come to their figures.

Here is an interesting article from the WSJ about figures, focused on the 750 million figure that was often stated after MJ's passing, but also investigates the Beatles and Elvis 1 billion albums claim.

Thanks for the apology. I actually agree with what you said - and although it might have come across wrong, if you look at my original post I didn't disagree with that, I was mainly responding your claim that nobody outside the US cares about Elvis/Beatles (which I think is what you originally had said) - but regardless of MJ being the biggest and the statistics from Last.FM being flawed, I don't think they would have the kind of listenership they do have if that was the case.

I can't speak for Elvis since I don't know much about the guy or his fanbase, but The Beatles defo at least have a lot of fans all across Europe and Australia. Your point about Africa and the Middle East is defo true though.

Makes me sad to think this was one of MJ's last performances. I remember watching it and thinking, "Why isn't he performing, "You Rock My World?" I remember a few fansites around 2002 saying Sony wouldn't allow him to perform it, so he did "Dangerous" instead, but was planning on doing, "You Rock My World" until the last minute. (Hence the outfit being similar to YRMW?) I might be remembering this wrong, but does anyone else remember this? Or was it just some fans speculating at that time?

Neither did Rod Temperton. He felt with the songs Michael had written (Billie Jean, The Girl Is Mine, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin') Hot Street would've been seen as weaker than those, and that it was too "pop"

and apparently, Michael wanted Bad to a be a double album, but Quincy convinced him otherwise

Looking at the songs he wrote from '84-87 for the album
Bad
Someone Put Your Hand Out
Streetwalker
Fly Away
Liberian Girl
Another Part Of Me
Cheater
Smooth Criminal
What You Do To Me
Tomboy
The Way You Make Me Feel/Hot Fever
Dirty Diana
The Price of Fame
Speed Demon
Leave Me Alone
I Just Can't Stop Loving You

and songs written by other people
Groove Of Midnight
Man In The Mirror
Just Good Friends

and songs he did for other projects in that timeframe
covers of Come Together and Strawberry Fields Forever
Scared Of The Moon
We Are Here To Change The World

it could've worked

and Roger Troutman did some work on Smooth Criminal, but I don't think his contribution ended up on the finished version

I maintain that the funky guitar breakdown towards the end of the song is at the very least a re-played version of what Roger did on the song, if not actually him.

It sounds just like his playing, to me.

I agree, but because Michael went back and re-recorded along with Dirty Diana and The Way You Make Me Feel, it's kind of a mystery
