Isn't Sigue Sigue Sputnik's "Flaunt it" the gayest and campest album ever?

It even has commercials as segues...One is for L'Oreal...

And it's even produced by Giorgio Moroder.

S S Sputnik were years a head of their time, 2 this day no other band has that distinctive sound, back in 86 they sounded like nothing else. The reason they chose Giorgio Moroder as producer of Flaunt It was because of his connection 2 film soundtracks. Yes they looked like freaks, and maybe are a bit camp looking by todays standards. The follow up album "Dress For Excess" was far superior in almost every way, they chose different producers, as well as producing some of the tracks themselves, however they did get SAW 2 produce the single "Success" with very mixed results, but Sputniks own version of Success is one of the best things they did. The sputniks went through a few line up changes in the following years and made a few more albums (with no commercial success). I think they were one of the most vivid and original music acts of the dull eighties.....i miss them.

I agree on pretty much all your points. Its like they took punk, and then crammed in as much then high tech synths/samplers/keyboards as humanly possible at that time. Certainly a very original concept at the time aswell (that and the deliberate commercialism of it all). Their first album must of sounded like what the future of pop music was going to sound like. So very mid 80's but now it even fresher then it did back then probably. Love it!

Indeed, they were very original, and Iam glad you dig their second album aswell. Even without Moroder, that album was still great fun.

I got an album "they" did in the 90's that was released in japan only. Totally different and not containing any punk sensibility at all. Not terrible though, just different.
